I haven't been a member of OpEd for very long, and I didn't join to post articles. I found the site most interesting and informative. The passion for truth of its members is a reminder that good people still have the courage to say it as it is. Aware that most who post here are ordinary American citizens living through extraordinary times cannot do other than lift the spirit. Many voices sing in harmony that the crimes against you are not going unnoticed. I salute you all. BUT.....

I am a British citizen living in fear of being branded a "potential terrorist" by my government's internet monitoring service that routinely checks up on me to make sure I am complying with the propaganda they constantly force feed me. I could, in theory, be arrested and detained without charge for over two days without judicial approval. No warrant would be needed to search and trash my house whilst I was being held in custody.

The weedkiller in my garden shed could then be used as evidence of terrorist intentions, and I would be further detained at the discretion of a judge who supported these draconian measures in the first place.

But hey, "Isn't Britain a democracy with full rights to free speech?" I hear you say. On paper ONLY, is the answer to that question. But enough about me. I just wanted you to understand that posting an article to such a radical web site as this poses very real threats to my liberty. Chances are it will just slip through the net ( no pun intended ) as do so many other things the Commons can't suppress, such as the free press of Britain, a long standing right to report that has persevered for centuries, without revealing its totalitarian tendencies to the rest of the world.

My brother lives near Greensboro, North Carolina. I know many American citizens personally and have stayed in the US for 6 months or more at a time. I thought I knew the soul of the average American, but now I am beginning to wonder if my observations have been correct. From what I have read here, it is becoming clear the whole truth is still not clear to many Americans. Almost like you were trying to tell yourselves, "I know we're in a mess and made mistakes, but it isn't all that bad, surely." I am not a conspiracy theorist or nut, or at least not yet. But then, would I know if I was ? But you guys really have to wake up. There is no doubting both Afghanistan and Iraq are illegal wars sold on lies using 9/11. Here is the key to that particular elephant in the room. There is no Al Qaeda and never was. Therefore, 9/11 couldn't have been committed by them. There are so many sources of referral, I'm not even going to bother making it even easier for you by posting them here. The evidence pointing to your own government is astronomical in volume. Your government has committed mass murder of its own citizens and a few brave souls stand outside the White House with banners, chanting. Is this an appropriate response to such a monumental crime? On the back of the 9/11 murders committed by, chiefly, Chick Deney ( you all know who I mean ), America has become the most hated nation in the world through war for profit.

Exacerbating the crime, along comes "the saviour of the United States" Barrack Obama who not only gives the criminals "get out of jail free" cards, but sides with them and continues the crimes on their behalf. Economic collapse is unzipping itself and guess who isn't getting lubricant ? THE CITIZENS OF AMERICA, that's who !!!

The Enabling Act, oh sorry, I meant Patriot Act has meant that the
government has, pretty much, the right to do anything it pleases to its
own citizens whenever and however it chooses. The police have become a law
unto themselves, and "To Protect and Serve" are concepts forgotten.
People are being forced out of their jobs, homes, and savings to serve
the interests of Corporate America. The future looks bleak indeed for
the average American. Sure, there are voices in Congress making faint, half- hearted noises but nothing seems to change. But it's not the Senate, Congress, or the White House that will save America; its the American people.

But no, let's just distract ourselves with irrelevancies such as blame, self loathing, heck, even the Church of Mel Gibson. Anything but taking real steps to avoid calamity. Is it going to take the complete collapse of the US, a once proud and deservedly so nation, to make its citizens stand up for themselves ?

I am a 48 year old British citizen trying to draw a line I can see between lies and truth. If truth is lies and lies are truth and we can no longer know which is which, why do I feel so sick when I tell my kids they will be happy, productive and (more...)
