It Will Take More Than Socialism and Democratic World Law to Save the World

The third component necessary to save the world is a spiritual revolution. And this is the most important component of all: it will show us the way to find joy and purpose in life.

If we were utterly baffled and had no idea how to save the world that would be the worst case scenario. But if we know what the world needs, there is much consolation in knowing that because even if it may take several generations to convince enough people to do the right things, we can at least know we're going in the right direction. Of course, we may not have several generations to prevent the world's destruction. With the love of Jesus and the serenity of Buddha, we can find joy within no matter how bad the world gets, but we have to do more than just save our souls. We have to save the world, and we each have a special role to play.

Capitalism and our major world religions have focused too much on individualism. We need more than the individualized compassion of Jesus or the serenity found in Buddhism. We also need the collective and social visions of people like Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr., and, of course, you know Einstein was a Socialist. More than emphasizing rules and prayers and dependence on a whimsical God who is separate and distinct from the world--our religions and spiritual practices could focus on our taking responsibility for our thoughts, habits, attitudes, and behaviors--while taking into consideration the modern discoveries about psychology, the unconscious, ego-defense mechanisms like the repression of anger, mindfulness meditation, and the importance of having good intentions.

When the tables were turned and the social order was reversed during the French Revolution in 1789, there was an equal amount of treachery and savagery. The French Revolution was spurred and ignited by the bourgeoisie, the capitalist middle class, and then the working class joined them in the struggle against the monarchy and the aristocracy, supported by the Church, especially its higher clergy. The dissidents could never agree on anything. They even beheaded former associates. Certainly it was no moral revolution. Among the confusion, a strong man, Napoleon, emerges, who takes the offensive attacking other nations that were also attacking him. Napoleon even tries to create an empire. But the conservative nations unite against Napoleon and return things back to "normal" in Europe with the Congress of Vienna in 1815. There were other social revolts in 1848 and 1849, but the forces of conservatism were able to squelch those attempts as well.

Dennis Sherman and Joyce Salisbury are the authors of a college textbook The West in the World: A History of Western Civilization. On page 591, they write, "[Karl] Marx described how human societies in each historical era became divided into the 'haves' and the 'have-nots.' The haves owned the means of economic production--in nineteenth-century Britain, for example, the industrial capitalists who owned the machines and factories. They also controlled the state and the ideas that dominated their societies. The have-nots were the exploited laborers--for example, Britain's industrial working class. Each side consisted of classes of people with opposing interests. As Marx wrote, '[T]he history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggle.' At a certain point, economic and social change would bring these class struggles to a revolutionary crisis. The French Revolution, he [Marx] explained, was an example of one of those conflicts coming to a violent head, as the bourgeoisie (the middle-class capitalists) overcame the aristocracy (the feudal landlords)." [1]

There have been other attempts to reverse the social order throughout European history. See John Ball and the Peasants' Revolt of 1381, the Levelers' movement, and John Wyclif's followers (the Lollards). One page 353, Sherman and Salisbury indicate in their book,"Many poor rallied to [Martin] Luther's banner of religious reform, and this support took a particularly violent form in Germany. Spurred on by fiery preachers, peasants who suffered from hunger, inflation, and skyrocketing manorial dues made Luther's attack on religious abuses part of their revolutionary program." A few lines later on p. 354 they continue, "In 1524, a violent peasant war broke out. As the peasants took up arms and stormed manor houses, they called for support from Luther's religious reformers. However, Luther was no John Ball (the religious leader who had led the peasant revolt in England in 1381). He advocated religious reform, not social revolution, for he believed the Bible called for people to obey secular rulers. Appalled by the violence in the countryside, Luther wrote a treatise called 'Against the Robbing and Murdering Hordes of Peasants,' in which he reprimanded peasants for defying legitimate government. He also urged those in power to 'smite, slay and stab' rebellious peasants, but the nobility needed no urging from Luther to protect their privileges. The rebellion was brutally suppressed--more than 100,000 peasants were killed." [2]

In Marx's surplus theory of value, the working class are those who create much wealth, the surplus, but they are only paid a small fraction of the enormous wealth they create because the capitalists expropriate the rest and pay the workers the lowest wages possible to make a higher profit for themselves. That's how capitalism works. But if we had a system of workplace democracy, the workers could help make the company decisions about everything--one person, one vote. The workers would not choose to pollute the place where they live or move the business overseas.

Now some socialists have had a materialist conception of everything, including economics and history. But the merging of science and spirituality is showing evidence that there is life after death based on the people who have had Near Death Experiences (NDE) and Out of Body experiences (OBE). Instead of going to either heaven or hell, the idea of reincarnation and the law of karma that we reap what we sow makes more sense if we have a loving God than spending eternity in a fiery furnace for the mistakes of one lifetime. A strict materialist would say that only a brain can create consciousness, but others are arguing that we choose each reincarnation with a specific mission to accomplish before we are born. They are providing evidence that consciousness can be temporarily separated from the body and that we can contact loved ones who have gone to the other side. Here are some interesting websites in a document I created called " Science, Spirituality, and the New Physics."

According to this 2013 Socialist Worker article about how the national vegan population is increasing rapidly it states, "As Dr. Steve Best points out, Karl Marx and Frederick Engels 'lumped animal welfarists, vegetarians, and anti-vivisectionists into the same petite-bourgeoisie category comprised of charity organizers, temperance fanatics, and naïve reformists.' Leon Trotsky railed against those opposed to revolutionary violence, scornfully describing their ideology as "vegetarian-Quaker prattle." On the contrary, there are ethical, ecological, and health reasons for being a vegan in this 21st century, and there is power in love, forgiveness, and nonviolence.

In an article entitled "World Order and the Rule of Law: From Disorder, No Order Can Emerge, " Glen T. Martin, President of the World Constitution and Parliament Association states, "The system of so-called sovereign nations (interfaced with their multinational corporations) is really a fragmented system of disorder." On page 4 he states, "Because there is no democratically legislated enforceable law for our planet itself (divided as it is into some 193 sovereign entities recognizing no effective law above themselves and little individual accountability for agreements and treaties) there is also no moral dimension of reasoned order that obtains at the global level, only chaos, fragmentation, and naked power relationships." He also states, "Abstract ideals, like those embodied in the UN Declaration of Human Rights, cannot create a decent world order. These moral principles must be embodied concretely within enforceable world law."

It might have been a good thing for various ethnic groups to develop a sense of nationalist identity against various forces of oppression that they contended with in earlier times. But since emerging nations have competed in a race to dominate and control, to trick and take advantage of one another, it has not gone well. Some nations have even tried to become empires, which is not what a democratic world needs. Having two world wars in roughly the last one hundred years is a sign that we have not made progress yet on our Social Progress Report Card.

Creating the United Nations was a beautiful idea, but it was not set up democratically because the most powerful nations gave themselves special privileges, considering the way the Security Council is set up. But it appears the Earth Constitution, on the other hand, is more democratic in every way. It was created by the World Constitution and Parliament Association. It is the best model available for a democratic world federal government based on enforceable international law. The current discoveries, recommendations, and decisions of the United Nations are not enforced, which makes them to be only idealistic hopes and dreams.

If we do not create democratic world federal government based on democratic world law, we will probably become more controlled by a top down, undemocratic fascist-type New World Order by those who make up the military-industrial establishment, the one percent, the Deep State, and the Shadow Government--those who now control governments and the mainstream corporate media. The first choice gives me hope, but the latter scenario makes me feel hopeless.

Laissez-faire capitalism has degenerated into corporate, transnational, casino capitalism, even fascism. Any totalitarian government of the present or past that has considered itself socialist or communist is not worthy of those names because true socialism or communism will always be democratic. Capitalism is based on production for private profit, and it is therefore inconceivable to have a compassionate capitalism. But a compassionate, democratic, egalitarian, and ecological socialism is our best choice if we consider the needs of the world, the Earth, and ourselves. We have to do more than just reverse the social order. We must create a spiritual revolution--a win-win situation for everyone. Let us seek democratic unity in diversity on a global level.

What a beautiful relevant article, Roger! Thank you.

I would merely add that if "we don't make it," this is how we should go out behaving.

Obligatory P.S. If you haven't sent a dollar to Marianne Williamson's campaign, please do it today. IMO, she has embodied these ideas though her almost seven decades of life.

Soon after Marianne Williamson declared her candidacy for president, I started sending emails to her with links to some of my articles and other articles that I thought might help her campaign. She personally responded to one email about 2 am and said, "I'm reading it now! Thank you." I was thrilled by that short response.

Let's hope that Bernie and Tulsi can effect the necessary

moves required to bring back our country (and the world)

to some semblance of what we previously thought we had.

There is no way Bernie and Tulsi can make the necessary moves to change the US. Firstly, because they do not offer such moves. Counting on them as nice people cannot work. Clinton and Obama were nice and did nothing. Carter was nice and media proclaimed him the worst President ever. It was his end. Kennedy opposed the rich and was killed. One does not need to count on individuals at all but on ideas which would change the US unavoidably. I offered them but you can not see it.

Alek, let's not pray for Srebrenika. It's too late. Clinton and Obama were

far worse than the late leader of Serbia. Carter was the best man who

has ever been President, though not the Best President. Most of your

ideas were not beyond the ability of my eyes to see. Nazdravlje.

Clinton and Obama said the same thing in their campaigns as Bernie and Tulsi do. The rich did not let them did what they promised. Why do you think Bernie and Tulsi would be better?

Also, I do not believe in supporting people because nothing dissapoints more than believing in people. I propose ideas which would make everyone satisfy people's needs unconditionally.

And the most important question for me is if most of my ideas are not beyond the ability of your eyes to see, why you do not support them?

Terrible copmparision. Clinton and Obama, especially Clinton, were not not "nice people." Anyone with an ounce of street smarts or self awareness - or just a gut feeling - recognized that.

Clinton and Obama were as nice as Bernie and Tulsi in their election campaigns. Under the pressure of the rich, they changed. My point is Bernie and Tulsi will most likely change as well under the same pressure of the rich. If not they might get killed as Kennedy was. I saw Obama sweating a lot, and Clinton was blackmailed with the Lewinsky case to attack Yugoslavia.

Of course, we may not have several generations to prevent the world's destruction.

Is that something we should worry about? I am nit picking in that question of course, but the world (by which I assume you mean the earth) is in little danger of being destroyed.

Man has been aggressively un-doing the sequestering of carbon that billions of years of organic activity has managed to remove from our atmosphere of course. Humans and probably other higher life forms may well disappear from the earth, but the worst that could happen is that we would set back the clock a few billion years. The earth would be no worse off than it was at that time.

The earth would survive and evolution would resume, even after suffering the awful consequences of human foolishness these last few decades.

Though the world will continue to evolve, the conditions this evolution will develop in is one of nuclear contamination, after all the nuclear fuel goes critical. The exposed air, land water pollution will only degrade what life their is left. Not a flattering scenario to ponder by any means.

My two cents on names being mentioned in other comments. Jimmy Carter, though himself a War Criminal, was attempting to wean the country from its MIC and foreign oil addictions. A futurist president and if the unpatriotic, immoral, unethical Ronald Reagan had followed through on his Energy Policy, it would be the USA and not the PRC/CCP that now leads the world in fast train and alternative energy use and research. Reagan's misguided domestic/foreign policies laid the foundation for China to threaten US economic/military interests and Taiwan.

The globalist stooge Obama and his witch of a Secretary of State Kill... er Hillery are what my moniker implies = "Stooges." The misguided policies these imbeciles pursued is what created the backlash of now having the Socialist POTUS King Con Don; who has been tasked with the collapse of the $; since is success in six bankruptcies is only surpassed by the number of women accusing him of rape.

Since being eligible to vote in 80, I have witnessed this country pursue the most ass-backward policies that have only created misery, squandered trillions of $'s and scores of US soldiers killed, maimed and committing suicide in the Farce War of Terror against former Reagan "Freedom Fighter's" now relabeled as "Terrorist's." While a chose few reap the rewards brown-nosing provided them.

I'm just thankful to have chosen not to have children, having an inkling of an idea of what the future was to behold, but my wildest predictions pale in comparison to what has transpired. I lived a humble life, jet travel being my biggest carbon contribution and enjoying my slow-downward slide in life; being a member of the lucky sperm club (White, American, personally debt-free), I had it better than the majority on the planet.

Very nice article, but it will take a change of hearts and minds to effect saving the world. That change is in the works, person by person, group by group. Additionally, Earth is the focus of the Masters from many of our neighboring planets who come in their ships to mop up nuclear radiation (not measurable using our outdated technology), prevent too dangerous missiles from launching, stabilizing the planetary grid, and developing the technology of light that will provide all of our power needs without pollution (crop circles are the signs). We have enormous and potent help, so there is no need to fear. But we on Earth simply must learn to live more simply and peacefully..ie Love one another. See: share-international.org.

Well, it is untrue, despite what you think.

Share International Foundation is an all volunteer network of everyday people, many of whom have met Maitreya and the Master Jesus, and work without pay to educate the public about Maitreya's mission. Without sharing resources, there can be no trust. Without trust, there can be no peace. Without peace, there can be no future for humanity on Earth. There is no ism, no religion, no legislation, no system that will enslave humanity now, for humanity has awakened and will create a future bathed in light. Hearts and minds.

The result of Maitreya's mission is in the hearts and minds of people, especially the young. They are in the streets all over the world, demanding freedom and opportunity to live decent lives. Maitreya's presence is changing the world, a process that begins with chaos as the old guarde hangs on to its power while the young and the young at heart beat on their doors. Unless you have read Benjamin Creme, or studied the vast number of articles at Share-International.org, you will have a hard time wrapping your head around this vast transformation that is taking place. Here is a simple introduction, if you have an open mind and heart: .youtube.com/watch?v=BajmwL0a43w&t=91s

I see that I need to answer your question about Maitreya "showing up". He is working incognito as a wise man making suggestions when asked. He may not just show up and say "I am Maitreya, the Christ, the Messiah"..etc. Humanity must want what He is suggesting: sharing Earth's resources so as to create mutual trust and understanding among people everywhere. Do you think an appearance, and such a statement would even merit a sneer in today's climate? I think not. So, he send Love to all people to soften their hearts if possible. He appears to individuals to give comfort (see Letters to the editor in Share International magazine). He advises leaders of all nations, if they ask. He moves earthquakes to reduce destruction. There are signs in all traditions pointing to miracles. There are Maitreya's "stars", 4 space ships in the 4 quadrants of Earth's atmosphere. They blink, change color, flash and move about. They announce the presence of Maitreya, the World Teacher: seehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hX2ujTDVdII&t=295s. When enough people ask Maitreya to come forward, He will present His credentials to the world. The effort now is to get out this message, an effort that has been sabotaged by the world's media and the very most powerful interests.

Good for you Betsy that you can see it, most of the people think that the world is getting worse every day. I personally think that enforced equal human rights by the people will create a good society unconditionally.

Enforced? It will be much more effective if people can realize the benefits to them of cooperation, trust, interdependence and correct relationships among men and women, and between humanity and its home, Mother Earth.

Enforcement will require killing a lot of people.

No enforcement does not mean killing, it can be more benign than a parking ticket. It can be actually based on $1 value.

Yes, it will be better if everyone realizes the benefits to them of cooperation, trust, interdependence and correct relationships among men and women, and between humanity and its home, Mother Earth. But if only one person does not accept it, he or she can destroy the effort of the rest. The enforcement of people with the power of only one dollar cannot fail. Here it is how: http://www.sarovic.com/future_of_democracy.htm

Take a nice look at history and tell us here when did conscience reach all of the people? I assume you know what unconscious people can do! What would you do with those who never reach consciousness?

I understand that you may have a hard time getting your head around who Maitreya is, and His Group, the Masters of Wisdom who are also here, Their power for good, Their ability to saturate all of humanity with Love. Only the few most antediluvian minds will not be moved by this energy. We know that all is energy, and that energy follows thought. Maitreya and the Masters are masters of energies. These energies saturating the world will transform humanity, and humanity will rebuild the world. The world economic systems are now beginning to collapse. Once this process is complete, the rich and powerful will have no influence over peoples who are on fire with Love. You can see it beginning. No government will be able to quell that fire. So it is evolution of consciousness on a massive scale. See: .share-international.org/books_WTAH.html

I have hart time understanding why would anybody believe in miracles which never happened and cannot be confirmed? I also do not get why people do not accept science which may be easily understood and proved?

People tend to believe their own experience as opposed to a cynical argument against it. That's science, no? Clinical experience. Observation of the same phenomena by hundreds of people over and over again.

If something affects you and hundreds of people it still does not mean it would affect the whole humankind. This means it is not science. We have never had a good society, which means we need to be smarter than our predecessors. I am not cynical.

In my view, while all this is well-intentioned, there is no single approach or solution since our growth and awareness levels are highly individualized. I'd suggest that a big solution would be for us to outgrow personal addictions. We live in a culture teeming in addictions to all manner of stuff, but with no apparent awareness of these addictions--to fear, negativity, money, opiods, violence, pills/booze, control, smoking, gambling, shopping, food, texting, social media, etc. etc.. In my view, we've also been manipulated by capitalism to BE addicted, since "more" is key to capitalist growth. It seems that some politicians and CEO's are as hooked on power, control, and money as heroin addicts are to heroin. While objects of addiction vary, addicted is addicted....These comments aren't about right or wrong. They are about a type of mental illness called addiction. Wholesome mentality pays attention, is adult, honest, calm, thoughtful, compassionate, and chooses to respond instead of react. Non-addicted personalities aren't consumed in self-deception, or compulsive, reactive behaviors. Addiction is the stuff of doing the same old thing over and over again while expecting different results. Nor does the addicted individual seem to learn much, since mistakes are repeated over and over and over. In my experience, solutions occur when there is individual willingness to take responsibility instead of blaming others, when we stop the victim mentality and, possibly, a sense of personal entitlement. Mercifully, there is a lot of help available to any addicted individual, and asking for help is usuallly key to overcoming many addictions. Perhaps the sickness of addiction is one of the bigger challenges we're dealing with in Washington, DC politics since its seems nearly impossible to reason with the actively addicted. But if the rest of us would be honest, take responsibility for him/herself, and commit to outgrowing whatever addictions we might have, we might experience some progress overnight!?

In my lifetime I have worked for many large corporations and every last one treated their employees like garbage. The larger they were the more nasty they were.
