Israel and its apologists are living in complete denial and if anyone criticizes Israel they're denounced as being anti-Semitic.
The former are living in a parallel universe separated and alienated from the latter which represents the world most people live in.
Most people see the current Israeli military assault on Gaza as the killing of innocent children, women, old people and those unable to take shelter from the unceasing bombardment from the misnamed IDF, Israeli Defense Force that uses planes, attack helicopters, naval bombardment, artillery, tanks and a completely equipped mechanized army that has rained hell on the Palestinian people. Oh yes, the IDF sends leaflets and makes announcements before they attack which somehow grants them some sort of immunity as "humanitarians" ,in the eyes of the apologists, before they obliterate everything in its path.
The fact is there is nowhere the innocent can go, trapped as they are in the prison that is Gaza.
Yet to Israel, its apologists and defenders it's all about defending the Israeli people because of rockets lobbed by Hamas that kill Israeli's.
The 1800 plus Palestinian's killed is all blamed on Hamas and its ineffectual, primitive rockets thrown at Israel-which has killed one Israeli citizen. Two others resulted from accidents. Yet it's All portrayed as comparable in scale by Israel's apologists and defenders.
But in the world most people inhabit, thousands everywhere have protested in sympathy and solidarity with the Palestinian's, recognizing as they do the imbalance of firepower the IDF possesses which is slaughtering innocent and defenseless people.
It is an indefensible war crime which Israel's apologists and defenders remain in denial and refuse to acknowledge.
Consider; during the Nuremburg trials conducted after WWII the Nazi's tried for war crimes wouldn't admit to their own culpability, they were just following orders. In their eyes how could they be held accountable for the unspeakable crimes authorized by Hitler, Himmler and the top echelon of Nazi Germany. Herman Goering of course recognized his fate knowing he would surely be hanged and committed suicide in his cell before the inevitable verdict was read.
But no matter; fast forward the above analogy to today. Is Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his cabinet the only ones that should be held accountable for the carnage the IDF is committing?
What about the members if IDF "just following orders? How about the 8 in 10 Israeli citizens that in recent polls support Netanyahu and what he is doing? What about those Israelis outside Gaza in nearby Israel lounging on hillsides, whooping it up and cheering the bombardment of Palestinians? And lastly, what about the Israeli apologists who refuse to see the brutality they defend? Are they all just innocent bystanders?
When one defends the indefensible or remains silent in the face of genocide without condemning it they too are complicit in the murder.
To digress, apparently in Europe there are some who have crawled out of the woodwork and call for death to Jews using the Gaza slaughter of Palestinian's as a pretext to reprise the real anti-Semitism against Jews which existed there for centuries which has nothing to do with present day Israel. It's just an unfortunate by-product that's raised its ugly head and should be roundly condemned.
But here's the rub; when governments, particularly the US with its unequivocal support and defense of the Israeli government, sends $3 billion in military hardware every year as the Congress genuflects before AIPAC and the Israeli Lobby approving everything the Israeli government does.
ALL the present genocide of Palestinian's has to fall on the shoulders of official Washington because without their support, none of this would be happening.
