Dear Senator Feingold:
We are turning to you as a last hope. We can count on two hands the number of elected representatives in both houses who do not take bribes and do the bidding of their corporate sponsors, no questions asked. You, of course, are one of the ten. We have actually considered relocating to Wisconsin in order to have a closer relationship with your office. At this point we are certain that we have passed the point where "democracy is threatened . Democracy is dead and finished. Mussolini famously defined fascism as the merger of corporations and government. It could be argued that we have passed even that threshold. Corporations are the government, with bankers securely in control. Many Americans are so disgusted with the corruption of Washington that they see revolution as the only possible remedy. The corruption is now so embedded that it appears incurable. We believe that there is a less violent solution, and we appeal to you to lead the charge. We believe that the following reforms are critical to overturning corporate power over elected officials, and to restoring the constitution and its principles to the nation.
- Publicly funded elections for all offices of state and federal government, and the outlawing of any political advertising paid for by PACS or corporations directly.
- The impeachment of any and all Supreme Court justices who deign to rule that corporations are humans with all rights and protections guaranteed under the constitution,
- The permanent end to gerrymandering, which makes it impossible to unseat an incumbent. All districts should be determined by a grid and not subject to party determination.
We believe that the above reforms must be initiated immediately. Otherwise, the danger of an unenlightened revolution is great indeed. I often say to other Progressives, "the revolution is coming, but it is not the one we always wished for . It is tragic that the most radical and bigoted Republicans have managed to harness the growing rage across America and to manipulate it to their own purposes. It is essential that Liberals step in and correct their misconceptions. A consistent truth in this undereducated land is that the least informed always misidentify the enemy. That must be remedied.
For the members of this organization, you were and remain our first choice for the office of the presidency. And we ardently hope that you will consider running against Obama in 2012, as he has proven that he lacks the spine to do what needs to be done. Senator Edwards pledged to outlaw lobbying. Yes, and look what they did to him. The corporate powers that be will always find ways to attack the agents of change and to neutralize them. It is widely assumed that Obama's life was threatened by bankers if he did not agree to their outrageous demands. We see no reason to question that assumption, but we do remember that FDR's life was also threatened. And it did not shake him from his duty to the American people. His response was "let them try .
We remain grateful to you for your unceasing efforts to restore the balance of powers to government and constitutional rights to the people. We urge you to soldier on and not to give up the fight.
Sincerely,
(Note: You can view every article as one long page if you sign up as an Advocate Member, or higher).
