There is a stigma attached to the term, 'hemp." Some believe that it is marijuana, when in fact, it has no THC in it, whatsoever, and cannot produce brain altering effects in humans. For hundreds of years, hemp, in America, was utilized as a huge agricultural product. It is well known that hemp textiles are much stronger than other natural fibers, such as cotton. Hemp, of course, as some are already aware, was used to create strong rope for harsh sailing conditions, as well as many other uses. Hemp was also used, in paper form, for the drafting of our Constitution. So, why, when we, as a country, are so well informed of this, do we refuse to once again utilize this organic compound, for the good of our country? Are we not capitalists? Then, why are we not acting like a capitalist society? Hemp itself, would be a HUGE EXPORT FOR AMERICA.
Marijuana, is, of course, another story. Yes, it has brain altering effects, but nobody in history has ever overdosed on marijuana. One hears plenty of the negative effects of alcohol on one's body, and on our society itself. Colorado may be a case, in point. Did you know that recently, all citizens of Colorado received a "tax-free day?" This was due to the huge amount of income towards the state, caused by the taxing of marijuana itself. Many politicians say that they are not ready for states to decide whether they want marijuana to be available. Some say that there is not enough research available at this time to make such a decision. Well, how can states that have marijuana criminalized supposed to do any adequate research on it, as a result? We Americans, are in a catch-22 situation. If both Hemp, and Marijuana were legalized, all states could do much needed research on marijuana as a natural homeopathic antidepressant, and continue research needed for sufferers of anxiety, epilepsy, migraines, poly-cystic ovarian syndrome, cancer, and the list goes on and on. Canada is legalizing marijuana next April,(2016.) As capitalists, we should all consider the fact that there might not even be a deficit if we were to export both of these organic compounds, and realize what they truly are; a gift from God
