In 1932 six year old me asked my grandfather for a nickel to buy an ice cream cone. His answer was " haven't got a nickel; I'm broke." When it was obvious that I didn't understand, he turned his empty pockets inside out to demonstrate and I understood.
Uncle Sam today is in a worse condition now than Grandpa was then. Grandpa still had a number of houses in his Dafan Realty Corp. which he sold off one after the other throughout the depression years and came out of the financial mess still solvent. If Uncle Sam turned out his pockets today a huge pile of IOUs would litter the floor.
It's time to retract, close out foreign wars, close down foreign military bases, radically trim the size of the military, initiate fair trade with protective tariffs to stop the outsourcing of our industrial base, incorporate the Federal reserve into the Treasury Department, outlaw the fractional reserve and start printing debt-free US currency.
The USA is mortally wounded and it's time to retreat from foreign adventures and return to progressive conservative monetary principles before it's too late. It's time to revive the New Deal and if Obama is unwilling or unable to do it, the party must turn against him and force his hand.
