I've been predicting that the Republicans will, facing an apocalyptic election in 2020, remove Donald Trump from office and off the ballot.

Yesterday's elections not only proved my point but they have nudged the Republican Apocalypse clock closer to midnight. All the mainstream media coverage has focused on the big, top-down Democratic victories-- Beshear's Kentucky governor's race win and the Democratic House and Senate win in Virginia. And they are important, but as the commercials say, there's much more-- a bottom-up local explosion of wins that portend catastrophe for the GOP.

I live in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, where yesterday, the Democrats almost swept the entire ballot, winning bigger then they have in over 30 years-- taking most countywide elective offices, particularly the essential two out of three county supervisor positions that provide control of the county. The same kind of election sweep happened in adjacent Delaware and Chester Counties and nearby Lehigh county. Most important, Bucks county has long been considered a bellwether district that often predicts national elections. So the result yesterday, for not only Bucks, but also Delaware and Lehigh Counties was a giant signal of what is to come.

The Republican Apocalypse will happen in November 2020 if things continue as they are, with Donald Trump in the White House and on the ballot. Between now and next November, Trump's reputation will continue to be trashed and the Republicans, if they stay with Trump will pay the price, as they already did in yesterday's elections. And the Republican leadership will see this predicted in internal polls. They'll see that they will not only lose the White House, the House and the Senate, but also, downballot, they will lose governor races, control of state legislative bodies and many more local elections of county commissioners, mayors, school board members, even prothonotaries and recorders of deeds. it will be a deep Republican Apocalypse.

Given this scenario, the worse thing that could happen to the Democratic party would for Donald Trump to be out of the picture-- removed from the White House and off the ballot. If Trump is out of the picture, there will be a fast, lively Republican primary that will probably include at least ten primary candidates. The GOP will allow a truly bottom-up process to select the winning general election candidate-- something I don't trust the Democratic party to do.

Then there will be a general election and, my guess is that the Republicans will run a female candidate, probably former governor and UN ambassador Nikki Haley, Lisa Murkowsky or Susan Collins. This will drastically change the chemistry of the general election.

How do you think Joe Biden, who is the one people think will do best against Trump, will do going up against Nikki Haley?

I don't know. Pollsters should be asking that question-- matching the top four Democratic primary candidates-- Biden, Sanders, Warren and Buttigieg against likely top Republican candidates-- Pence, Cruz, Rubio, Haley and Collins, for example.

If the Republican leadership does not remove Trump, I'm very certain that the Republican Apocalypse will happen, come November. Given my prediction is correct, the last thing the Democrats want to do is remove Trump. As I've written before, the purpose of impeachment is at least partially political. Everyone I talk to and I mean everyone, says I am wrong, that Trump will not be removed. Former Trump appointee Anthony Scaramucci also predicts that Trump will soon be gone.

Clearly we are in interesting times. I've been wanting Trump to be removed and looking forward to it. But now, given the promise of such a devastating Republican apocalypse, I'm not sure I still want that. Keeping Trump dangling, like a reeking rat at the head of the Republican brand could be far more effective.

One thing I believe will help is using the term "Republican Apocalypse" or "GOP apocalypse." If it starts going viral it will strike fear into the hearts of Republican politicians and leaders. So start using it in comments, articles, and hashtags.

You'll get your wish. Trump is here for another 5 years. And I'm predicting the Republicans will take back the house. The Dems have been doing nothing besides trying to get rid of Trump for the last 3 years. That won't sit well with voters. Getting rid of Trump isn't high on their radar.

Rob, if Pres. Trump is impeached before the new year, the GOP will face two equally distasteful choices. First, convict Trump and in the process anger all of his base. That 30% of the electorate hasn't changed in its desire for imperial leadership since the American Revolution. Nothing that's going to come out between now and January will make any difference to them. Or, find him not guilty and then be stuck with him (and be totally responsible for any silly thing he might do in the meantime) in November. In any case, the political calculus for "what happens if" for either scenario is anything but predictable.

"the political calculus for "what happens if" for either scenario is anything but predictable." Exactly!

...there are all those uncommitted voters who are about to get a look at something beyond the rants about "the process" being unfair and a witch hunt.

As a teacher and a playwright, I know that it is the behavior that is front of me that defines the true nature of a person...his 'character,' so to speak... and the charlatan showman who is the main character of this saga unfolding before us, can be heard talking..everywhere, and all the time, as he does here, for example about purchasing Greenland.

I find that our political humorists do a good job of finding the real meaning in his words and actions...thus the links here. In his own words he shows us who he is, and his enormous ignorance of history and science, which is displayed by his words . Words matter! (the title of file on my desktop and a blog I am writing,)

He may look in the mirror and see a 'stable genius', but we see the emperor with no clothes --naked in his word salad.

What people 'say' about him, is the opposite of what everyone is saying. "What a great outcome," he says about his removal by tweet, of our troops from Syria. Not wasn't.It was betrayal!

No society that bases its decisions on lies, ever survives for long. But this character cannot hold back, he must have the floor 27/4 and be adored; hence his 11,00 tweets...fille with disinformation and insults show us exactly what he is willing to do.

"Yeah, that's just him, 'talking'," say his defenders -- to which I say, EXACTLY!

Because you see, he is not merely some tv reality show host, he represents ME and YOU in the world, and IF he can imagine that what he is doing in that mud-slinging, is good for this nation, then that opinion, too, demonstrates that he is unsound of mind, and ignorant of the role of our government-- of which he is the leader...and I choke as I write that.

If it weren't for the huge core o fenablers, who spin his words, and protect him from the close scrutiny of the things he says at his rallies. Who can listen to the hours o this rants...but anyone who does...knows who he is. He is the President ,not some entertainer at a circus, MY president... and I AM LISTENTING.. and so should we all... because normalizing his aberrant, disrespectful behavior gives a model to our CHILDREN. Here is what president does.

One only has to listen to him to know what HE knows! WHAT he thinks and what he intends to do...to our nation if we leave him in that office.

Thus, when I hear his defenders here or anywhere, I am stunned by the ignorance of the reality, or the hypocrisy that allows anyone to find a reason or excuse for what this damaged child does.

The Democrats will unseat Trump, so what.

It will just bring in a new round of corrupt politicians.

This impeachment inquiry just cemented my view of

politicians. They put the truth and the people they're

supposed to represent last, and their Party 1st. They lie

with constant impunity, with no conscience whatsoever.

Poll: Majority Believe Trump Will Be Re-Elected

Why would any Republican, particularly one up for re-election, raise a finger to remove Trump from office? The Washington Post recently reported that they actually say "We're dead if we oppose the Administration."

It's a deadly bind the GOP is in. But they'd rather keep the support of their base and suffer losses in the short term, than just stand up and say "Shoot me now!"

Sorry, Rob, but your progressive wet dream just has very little basis in the political real world.

Ha. Either the GOP removes Trump so they have a chance to survive without a GOP apocalypse or they allow him to stay and be slaughtered at the polls, like they were on Tuesday. I don't see other possibilities. What are you smoking? Stinkweed? The question is, will the DNC overcome the progressive values that the majority of people who will vote democratic believe in.

You seem to think there are always good possibilities. The GOP is screwed, period- and there is no way out for them. But a Republican Presidential candidate losing an election because Democrats and the majority of Independents voting against him is hardly anything new, let alone apocalyptic. But having one's own party turn on you would be.

Already, it's way more than just the GOP loss of the White House, as I've written. And if the DNC uses superdelegates to steal the election from progressives, to run another loser centrist, then we will all smell the stinkweed.

And Trump has no-one in the GOP truly loyal to him. They are using his influence and power. But only an idiot would trust him, other than to throw people under the bus. He has no loyalty.

Major political parties do not remove from office sitting Presidents with 90% approval ratings under any circumstances.

Say, Hillary won in 2016, and the GOP still controlled the House. It's safe to assume that Mrs. Clinton would have proceeded to do what almost everything most mainstream Democrats would expect from their chosen leader, and she consequently would probably have had a Democratic approval about the same as what Trump's is now. And say the GOP impeached her for buying the DNC in order to win the nomination (choose anything...). The Hillary hatred amongst Republicans, and a good deal of Independents) would be virtually identical to what the flipside is now vis a vis the Donald. Even if it got so bad that it looked as if the Democrats would lose the Presidency and the Senate, do you honestly believe that Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi would plot to have her removed from office?

Puhlease...

I would chose other hypotheticals but not one so manifestly silly as that. For one thing, the Democratic party can chose whomever the hell it wants to, and not so many decades ago it did.

Go with Benghazi and emails. The gifts that keep giving.

:) Truth is no animals were harmed in writing the column. :)

Rob is entitled to any political view he chooses. As owner and editor-in-chief of this website, he could choose to rise above insulting his paying members.

Also...he could have chosen to gracefully own that his choice of pictures lacked sensitivity...enough so that some readers found it quite disturbing.

No doubt, technology exists to change the pic, which would have made the article more readable, whether one agrees with its premise or not.

I've never couched my opinion that the circus of the 2020 election is a distraction from the real agenda of depopulation and the enslavement of those who remain...all for the benefit of the so-called elite.

It is my studied conclusion. This battle goes far deeper than the voting booths. No one needs to agree with me.

I'm done with this fight.

The fact that the rest of the cafeteria is now ignoring the endless food fight among the nerds should drive home the point of how far the party-politics-obsessed have fallen in the public's esteem. Trump, deservedly or not, positioned himself as the first antiestablishment candidate to arrive on the scene since the military took the reins of power in 1945. To remove him - whether he deserves to be removed or not - is to ignore the will of the fed up, exhausted americans in fly over america. It will make the democrats look like dirty fighters and be seen as yet another stupid, elitist move that further divides the nation. Stop wasting time scratching that itch to appear morally superior, and put the energy into prioitizing a win for Tulsi Gabbard. Time to end the war economy.

Trump tried and failed. He failed when he had the House and Senate. He had his chance. I'd love to see Bernie Sanders or Tulsi Gabbard take on the PTB. Trump failed because of his pathological narcissism. He duped supporters, telling them what they wanted to hear, as narcissists and psychopaths always do, and then used the position for his own interests.

Look at what he has "accomplished:" He appointed to justices to SCOTUS who will absolutely protect the PTB and establishment. And he had a tax break for the wealthy passed. He is a stupid man and at the core, a cowardly bully. I'd like to hear from you signs that he has what it takes or has made real efforts to do anything like what you want him to do, outside of kissing the asses of dictators.

At this point, he is a malignancy that is a threat to the planet and humanity. I would rather see him removed ASAP, even though it will reduce the chance that a Democratic candidate could win, hopefully Bernie or Tulsi.

Meanwhile, you will probably enjoy the interview I did with Paul Craig Roberts yesterday. He espouses the same point of view as you on Trump.

And thanks, John Re, for actually spelling out why you disagree with me-- intelligently. John Rachel should try it, instead of being a rude ....

Trump is very narcissistic, but I cannot see what would make him "pathological"? Why do you think he is a stupid and cowardly bully? Such people do not win the US elections. The point is you dislike Trump very much, and this makes you biased. Your dead elephant is below a good taste of people, and also it is false, the republicans are not even close to death.

If you want to contribute to Trump's removal, point to his objective failures and give constructive proposals that may remove him.

First, let's stipulate that running for and winning the presidency of the US is no place for anyone plagued by self doubt.

I'm no scholar of psychology like Rob but my amateur observations indicative of pathology include:

Claiming he alone could fix things.

Obsessing over the size of the crowd at his inauguration despite evidence to the contrary.

Obsessing over the alleged crimes of Hillary Rodham Clinton long after she became politically irrelevant (and believe me, any thoughts she may have about a late entry into the field will be roundly nipped in the bud. Even the DNC isn't that clueless).

Presenting the sharpie doctored weather map as "proof" he was right in his warning to base state Alabama (which continues to remind me of the Monty Python character presenting a crayon doctored "cat license").

Bragging about the crowd size at his rallies while visiting the wounded after the El Paso mass shooting.

This guy isn't just a malevolent purveyor of bad policy, he is seriously sick!

You have just defined a narcissistic person, and narcissism is a kind of disorder, not an illness. Psychopathology is an illness, and we call such people crazy. They are dysfunctional in real life, have to take medicaments or need to be hospitalized. Trump is not that. Trump exaggerates a lot in an attempt to promote himself, but I did not get the impression he does not know what he is doing.

narcissists and psychopaths are pathological but they definitely know what they are doing. They are control freaks. You are incorrect in believing that a person has to not know what he is doing to be mentally ill.

Scientists cannot agree about mental illnesses, but I believe they would characterize Trump as very narcissistic but not mentally ill.

The point is narcissistic people make big mistakes, and Trump's opponent would have a lot of chances to smash him in TV duels. Gabbard would destroy him, and this would be an enjoyment to watch. I think Sanders would win him as well.

Sanders and Gabbard would make a good team, and I hope they will work together one day.

This my Sunday homily.

Trump and other tools for the ruling deserve not one iota of respect. The thin skin bastards should be insulted and threatened at every opportunity. They should be reminded that will not forget their misdeeds and that we will make them pay and take all of their sh*t when we get our hands around their throats even as we apparently seem to forget what they have done and are doing.

Trump has lied to his base and will contend in the election campaign that the MIC and deep state would not let him do what he promised to do. There is no point in equivocation about who has lied to us. He is the god damn liar. If he was not a coward he could at this late date lead a frontal media assault on the MIC, the deep state and sorry ass congress things by going public and asking for our help. He is a con. He is finished because he played with fire and crossed the line with the elites with his flippant base and not so base pleasing anti NATO and anti globalization remarks. Now his enemies have every bit of his financial and personal behavior data that he wanted to keep secret and will blackmail him and maybe eventually whack him. He is rolling over big time because he hopes he will be able to save his sorry ass and what remains of he and his family's corrupt enterprises.

In my opinion, the comments about Rob's article epitomizes the disconnect we occasionally share: a reluctance to gird up our loins and join together to destroy the apparatus that has us in a deadly choke hold. The internecine squabbles we witness more and more among the elites tools are opportunities if we were organized to divide them even further, so that we could turn and face enemies such as the lying warmongering democrats and take them out by choking them in the middle of their lying words about how clean their hands are, as they hope that we will remain duped about who they are.

A dead elephant is a horrible visage. For horrible visages, never forget ala the death and destruction of millions of humans from starvation, bombed buses, funerals and weddings and infrastructure in Yemen, Iraq, Libya, Syria and Afghanistan, Palestine, Venezuela, aka the A list of US and western colonial imperialist personal fouls. AND there is the planet we have a duty to serve. Decide whether the argument we are having here will save our souls.

" AND there is the planet we have a duty to serve. Decide whether the argument we are having here will save our souls."

Well said ,Shad.

"In my opinion, the comments about Rob's article epitomizes the disconnect we occasionally share" reminds me of the disconnect I am hearing from people whom I genuinely respect and admire. They want me to '"agree to disagree!" I will never agree to something that is a lie.

Truth is all!

I shake my head in disbelief that they cannot see what I in from of their eyes. See my other comment in this thread, about watching behavior and listening to dialogue.

I cannot argue with them, as we do here, or as I would do in an academic setting... because they need to believe the lies that they are hearing -- they do not want to see or hear anything that points to the enormous politically motivated deception surrounding this president. Convinced against their will, they will remain of the same opinion yet... so I drop the conversation. No agreement, just utter disbelief that they have been conned!

Here at least, we can argue, and except for a few -- whose comments not only insult us( or Rob) for our opinions -- but then, they say that we -- the targets of their insults' -- are actually insulting them.

OMG! I wonder what it must be like to have to actually talk to such people, who like Trump, demean those who do not agree with them.

I have a deep admiration for the publisher of this website, Rob Kall, who sets up the rules for conduct when arguing, and warns or tosses out those who prefer ad hominem attacks.

Truth!

You may see this - but Trump is continually giving in to appease these

Deep State fckers Just so he can hope to be president; they have more

power than the White House. Please let up on the castigation.

If you get time, watch Rob's interview with PCR. Rob may have suffered

chastisement but he held his own fairly well. Paul Craig did some heavy

hitting that I HOPE ROB LISTENED TO.

Shad, if you disrespect your enemies, you underestimate them, and you would lose the fight with them. Respect will make you cautious, and you would prepare yourself for a fight that would attract people to your side. By saying "Trump should be insulted and threatened at every opportunity" would not attract people. It would rather increase the support of Trump.

Then, you speak like you have the power to threat Trump, but you do not. Trump cheats on people to get voters, but being a liar in it is nothing exceptional.

However, the most important fact is, all that you say was put in your mouth by the elite, and you even do not know it. The elite filter all of the information available to people, and that means they create everything people think. They like people who support Trump the same way as people who attack him. They want people to argue as much as they can because that weakens them and gives the elite power to control. Divide et impera. The elite creates ALL of the confrontations of people for the same reason.

The elite has even taken the ability of people to think independently. I have defined the bright future of humankind and people are not able to recognize it.

Good interview. Hopefully you paid attentionto what PCR had to say, because he is exactly on point.

Also, please don't a) put words in my mouth and b) make me have to defend Trump. I never said he was "accomplished," nor did I suggest he has "what it takes or has made real efforts to do anything like what [I] want him to do." I said Trump "POSITIONED" himself as the first antiestablishment candidate," and to "remove him - whether he deserves to be removed or not - is to ignore the will of the fed up, exhausted americans in flyover America."

So please stop wasting your time and our time with this bs, and start campaigning for the ONLY candidate with the backbone, charisma and resume to end the war economy. THAT shouild be your focus now at 2 minutes midnite.

Trump is an ultra establishment candidate. No president has ever followed the interests of the elite more efficiently than him. The Democrat's attack on Trump is artificially made by the same elite as everything else is in the US.

So why would the elite alow attacks on his best asset in the US?

The most significant attack on Trump was connected to his alleged cooperation with Russia, which was proven false and increased his popularity. On top of it, the elite encourages every fight among people because it helps them take control over them.

Gimme a break Alek, I never wrote that Trump was not a member of the establishment. I said he positioned himself as not being one and is being treated by the deep state as if if he is not. More importantly he got people to come out of the closet and decalre their hatred of the establishment by voting for the apparition he presented. And given the ACTUAL alternatives, that's a very good thing ultimately because it has ossified public sentiment against the establishment.

thanks for the clarification. We need to tease these ideas out and fine tune what is done with them. It's too bad that such a fraud was the one to "position himself." And who are you referring to as "the ONLY candidate with the backbone, charisma and resume to end the war economy." I can think of two-- Sanders and Gabbard. I know some fault Sanders for getting on board with Hillary, but I still believe he has the guts and integrity, and an actual chance to win.

Prego.

I was of course referring to Tulsi Gabbard. Sanders is too old, too compromised in the public's view for backing Clinton and too controlled by the military security complex. As I've written on these pages a hundered times that Sanders is leading millennials astray with his sole focus on curbing the "billionaires." In the strategy of winning, that move comes later. First and foremost as Gabbard has pointed out repeatedly, the endless war must be stopped and that money applied to infrastructure. Ironically, there are an awful lot billionaires who will get on board with that. University of Chicago educated Sanders must know this. If he doesn't he is as stupid as he looks. And if he does know it, he should be forced to drink hemlock juice for his treacherous sophistry.

J.L. if possible, be sure to watch Rob's interview with PCR. Exceptional.

Paul Craig stated things well, and Rob didn't back down but appeared to

haul in his horns re: Trump's many failings/crudeness, though refusing to

acknowledge the total destruction of our 'democracy' by means of coup.

PCR and Rob disagreed amiably (?).

I don't think we have the depth of our world and within our Psyche. We've been in this b.s. since Rome's Ceaser up to us. We are still there. Ceaser needs to go. We need to go beyond Thousands of years. I'm glad Rob Kall wrote his work while putting our feet towards deep change. When I say deep, I mean deep. My opinions.

Good work, Rob! For me, I have about run out of new things to say. Anybody who by now doesn't "get" Trump is either in self-interested denial, or too stupid to be engaging in responsible public discourse, and thus too ox-brained for me to waste my time trying to enlighten.

I rather agree with your apocalyptic conclusions about the GOP for 2020. I have been saying for three Administrations that the GOPers were vulnerable to the kind of November Massacre you suggest.

However, it is a little harder to see it that way down heah in Mississippi, where Republicans, as was to be expected if Dems keep sitting on their hands, won most offices in a very low voting turnout. I expect analysts (and spin doctors) to figure out a narrative that shows that 2019 went just fine for the GOP.

"Given this scenario, the worse thing that could happen to the Democratic party would for Donald Trump to be out of the picture"

You're not suggesting the Schiff/Pelosi impeachment effort is just a kabuki dance are you?

There is something I've been reflecting on for a while, that's becoming a little more clear to me: I'm not 100% confident the GOP will confront Trump to step aside as Goldwater did Nixon, but I'd rate it far better than 50% now. Yet the MSM, pundits and DNC establishment are still handicapping Biden vs. Trump, Warrent vs. Trump, etc. We keep hearing from pundits like the NYT's David Leohhardt and Thomas Edsall (those who deign to follow MSM) about the perils of nominating a "far-left" candidate like Warren or, heaven forbid, Sanders--clearly aimed at likely primary voters like me. Surely, the best outcome for the DNC establishment would be for the GOP to march head-on to their apocalypse--keep circling their wagons around a stick of dynamite until it goes off (sorry I keep repeating this metaphor but I think it's great), and in the mean time, keep us running scared of the progressive wing.

I believe what we are going to see in the next year are dueling investigations. One for impeachment and one for Russi-gate. Both have legitimacy, but both will be conducted with partisan bias. It will be a dying empire spectacle for the ages.

Meanwhile, Wall St. will continue its reckless destruction of the Main St. economy while millions more will struggle with unpayable debt and both parties wage war on the countries that refuse to submit to the IMF austerity program. The Democrats' phony Green New Deal will be pushed aside as will single payer health care.

After the party conventions we will again be given a choice between two right wing corporate war mongering candidates. I'm voting Green. I don't care anymore what anyone else thinks of that decision. It's the only sane one I know of other than abstaining.

Hi Nels. Me too. We are in dangerous waters with too many people taking one side or the other of the national security state feud. The planet wreckers are in overdrive and no one seems to know how to stop them.

We need a global strike now.

You might want to go online to check out the integrity of your prejudice. The Do-Nothing Democrats have passed bill after bill that languishes on the desk of the Republican hyperpartisan, Moscow Mitch. Do-nothingism resides with him, not the Democrats.
