It strikes me as remarkable that someone who is generally acknowledged to be facing conviction and significant jail-time for a myriad of crimes, as soon as he leaves office, could very well be, again, elected President of the United States.
As I've mentioned before, I believe the focus on the unprecedented unfitness for that office of Donald Trump is entirely misplaced, and misses the real point by a country mile or two.
If Trump is re-elected, I don't believe that history will look back upon this period as one where some singularly corrupt and wretched hooligan became president by some bizarre and unrepeatable fluke. I believe it will condemn the entire Zeitgeist, i.e. our superficial, materialistic, consumption and information-based society.
In the meantime, no amount of bewildered finger pointing at a single individual (or political party) will explain, absolve or redeem this country for what we are presently enduring.
