I posted this as a link on one of David Pear's recent articles, but think it is worth a stand alone article. It goes to the heart of Russiagate, the utter lunacy of the New York Times, and the total failure of the DNC (well, almost on that one, as there is so much more). Another VSL (Very Short Article) from yours truly. Yours truly, Daniel Geery

In my run for U.S. Senate against Utah's Orrin Hatch, I posted many progressive ideas and principles that I internalized over the years. I'm leaving that site up indefinitely, since it describes what I believe most members of our species truly (more...)

"Death Knoll"?

"Casket Lid"?

I think you're getting ahead of yourself, Daniel. Haven't you ever seen Night of the Living Dead?

I have been for most of my life 100% culturally illiterate. My loving but insanely strict Catholic mother limited our tv watching to about zero. I could not watch Soapy Sales (sp?), The Creature from the Black Lagoon, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, and a few thousand more, that the Catholic Church (or she) did not approve of.

Then when I did start watching a few shows in college, I thought they were totally inane. BUT I think this is the one where a good friend of mine said he could not sleep for a long time after watching it! He was from a small town in North Dakota and, like myself, had a pretty decent imagination.

BUT I see I can watch it on YouTube and probably cast it to the tv, so I'll be watching it soon, even if on my cell phone.

After which, I will try to answer your question... đŸ˜—

I can understand why your mother shielded you from the pornographic ode to animal cruelty, Cat On A Hot Tin Roof. But Soupy Sales? The greatest philosopher of the 1950s? From Soupy I personally learned the virtues of taking my vitamins: "Through the teeth and over the gums, look out stomach, here it comes!"

Night of the Living Dead is the archetype for all subsequent zombie movies. The dead arise and feast on the flesh of everyone still alive. David Koch's dying words: "I'll be back. I just got started."

There's definitely some allegorical truth to be found in this black-and-white cinematic masterpiece, for understanding the return of nefarious ideas and myths in our political environment. Or maybe not. In any case, it is scary. Just like the people now in charge of destroying any semblance of order, civilization, and creatures with eyes who are mobile.

You guys make me too fearful to respond. The only cinema I saw was Tom Mix.

Hopalong and Buck. I MISSED RONNIE and What's his name.

I don't know what her problem was on this one, but can guarantee it was somehow related to Catholicism. I do recall that SS got kicked off the air, just checked that to see why:

On Friday, January 1st., 1965 children's TV host Soupy Sales, somewhat miffed at having to work on New Year's Day, had a few minutes to kill at the end of his popular live broadcast television comedy program.

Soupy, who was widely know for his tremendous sense of humor, double meaning jokes, and impromptu gags during his live program, looked into the camera adlibbed something like this:

"Hey kids, last night was New Year's Eve, and your mother and dad were out having a great time. They are probably still sleeping and what I want you to do is tiptoe in their bedroom and go in your mom's pocketbook and your dad's pants, which are probably on the floor. You'll see a lot of green pieces of paper with pictures of guys in beards. Put them in an envelope and send them to me at Soupy Sales, Channel 5, New York, New York. And you know what I'm going to send you? A post card from Puerto Rico!" [Pretty damn funny!]

The Soupy Sales Show was broadcast live, therefore, no tape of it exists, and no verbatim transcription of his adlib remarks is available. But, over the years people who saw the broadcast and Soupy himself, have confirmed what was said.

Found that in this link--worth checking out click here, or at least it was for me.

I remember him being a lot funnier than this. Then again, I was a backward kid living in a mobile home within earshot of the Hazel Park Race Track.

BEST OF SOUPY SALES (sort of)
