Winnipeg Aware held their anti-lockdown "Rally for Freedom and Human Rights" at the Manitoba Legislative Building Saturday, May 9th.

The rally was peaceful and there were no incidents of violence on the part of participants or law enforcement.

Gerry Bohemier spoke at length detailing the negative effects of lockdowns. Some of the main points:

- a reduced immune system due to lack of interaction with the natural environment including contact with natural pathogens which boost the immune system in healthy people;

- a reduced immune system due to stress caused by the lockdown itself;

- increased health risks due to reduced sunlight which can cause vitamin D deficiency, depression, increased risk of cardiovascular disease and cognitive impairment in seniors;

- increased health risks due to people avoiding treatment for serious medical conditions induced by the lockdown and associated media hysteria;

- increased incidence of domestic violence;

- increased incidence of suicide.

A strong statement was made that vaccines are just one part of an overall immune therapy regimen and that mandatory vaccination is contrary to the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. [Writer's note: vide sections 7-9]

Manitoba Premier Brian Pallister is ahead of the curve in Canada having officially lifted the general lockdown and allowed gradual opening of businesses.

A spokesperson for Leader of the Opposition New Democratic Party Wab Kinew said the party had "decided not to comment on this story."

Liberal Party leader Dougald Lamont in a statement to the Free Press characterized all the protesters as "selfish, paranoid, and misinformed" tinfoil hat wearers but had no direct comment on the above claims of the protesters.
