I'm not going to bore you with things you already know. You know it because you live it. BigMusic has pretty much 'SET' what most people will be listening to.
Along comes an 'exception'.
'Calling All Astronauts' with their debut album 'Post Modern Conspiracy'
Calling All Astronauts album Post Modern Conspiracy by Calling All Astronauts
and the particular song that got my attention, 'What's So Good About?'.
Bigmusic wants to make you 'shake that booty' or 'rock til you drop' or try and make you 'feel'. More like 'extract' emotions for the love were missing because all along it was never really real. It was edited to influence and optimize for profit and manipulation and now instead of being informed and helped along by the most powerful communication medium there is, music, we're stuck with a void that needs to be filled.
Dumbed down and drilled in from radio playlists, 'popstar' worship, TV and internet, we're given limited options. Desperate and under these conditions most will (understandably) just take what we can get from a system that needs us only as obedient slaves to BUY THEIR PRODUCT and is slowly and from all directions moving in to automatize us into green jello, that's if we're lucky. If it continues this way they'll be nothing left of us but LARD.
Quote: Calling All Astronauts
There is no reason for poverty
other than the greed of the few
UPDATE: After contacting the band and asking if there was anything they wanted me to include in this article (that they haven't even previewed), they got back to me with this.
Band: Calling All Astronauts by CAA, Tom Robinson, bbc.co.uk
"I think our message is that it's time for people to say enough is enough to all the greedy self satisfying [sic] MFers running the governments of this world, and take the power back!"
So, really the title of this story should read: "Calling All Astronauts, HOPE is alive and well"
Alan Lomax (interviewer) to Woody Guthrie: "Any oil come in your family?"
Woody:"No,no we got the grease hahahaha."
BTW yes, I know many bands that we know and love are now with BigMusic and maybe there's a place for that BUT many didn't start out that way and maybe these guise+girl will be there too one day and who's to tell what the result would be. That would be then and for now is now.
Just look at Lana and Larry Wachowski. The Matrix, V for Vendetta, Cloud Atlas. All, oh, that's right except Cloud Atlas (IDK why not) were funded by big Hollywood studios so who's to say. These films 'changed the world'.
The only explanation I can offer here is that for the 'right price' even Big Music and Movie companies will occasionally 'do the right thing'.
Naw,ok, wait a minute. I'm dreaming...
They screwed up..
