Today the CIA Chief was selected to become the Secretary of Defense and the Afghanistan General was selected to become the CIA Chief.   And two former Presidents ethereally gasped; Benjamin Franklin and Dwight Eisenhower watched their legacies crumble and rolled over in their graves.   They did so, not necessarily for the shuffle within the military industrial complex; only partly for the implied continuation of war in Afghanistan; and only partly for the reality of expanding the war in Libya instead of helping Japan - all while creating a contingency spy program to digitally keep track of everyone, making null and void any notion of Habeas Corpus.   No, all that aside, it only took one segment of one speech to twirl and chaff the aforementioned Presidents and all they stood for as venerated public servants and philosophers.

Following is a portion of Panetta's pomp, with the main outrage capitalized along with quotes from Eisenhower and Franklin for an understanding into what they thought.

"This is a time of historic change both at home and abroad.   As the son of immigrants I was raised to believe that WE CANNOT BE FREE UNLESS WE ARE SECURE.   Today we are a nation at war and job one will be to insure that we remain the strongest military power in the world, to protect that security that is so important to this country.   Yet this is also a time for hard choices."

~CIA Chief Panetta

"If all that Americans want is security, they can go to prison.   They'll have enough to eat, a bed and a roof over their heads.   But if an American wants to preserve his dignity and his equality as a human being, he must not bow his neck to any dictatorial government."

~Dwight Eisenhower

"Anyone who would trade liberty for security deserves neither liberty nor security."

~Benjamin Franklin

Franklin and Eisenhower would never have allowed cell phone tracking of American Citizens, as it is a direct affront to personal liberty.   Franklin and Eisenhower would never have allowed a corporation to behave as, say, GE for example.   This corporation makes appliances for kitchens, war machines for killing, along with owning NBC media, representing the epitome of the type of institution Eisenhower warned people about, the military industrial complex.

That the head of the CIA thinks that liberty requires security means he has ignored and obfuscated the foundational principle of the U.S.A.   Liberty requires liberty.   Liberty does not require security.   In fact, to be true, if security means the "strongest military power in the world' and the endless exercise of this power to seemingly provoke endless war and endless production of war machines, than they bring only insecurity.   Liberty requires liberty.   Hypothetically, when all people have their needs, when all people experience liberty, there is no need for concern of security.   When there is war and expansion of war then security becomes a concern and liberty is diminished.   One does not necessitate the other; one voids the other.
