Saagar Enjeti: Media says Joe Biden's 'cognitive decline' is Russian conspiracy theory

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZUTHdJgJ1A&pbjreload=10

Saagar discusses the Democratic establishment protecting Joe Biden against allegations of cognitive decline. About Rising:

Rising is a weekday morning show with bipartisan hosts that breaks the mold of morning TV by taking viewers inside the halls of Washington power like never before. The show leans into the day's political cycle with cutting edge analysis from DC insiders who can predict what is going to happen. It also sets the day's political agenda by breaking exclusive news with a team of scoop-driven reporters and demanding answers during interviews with the country's most important political newsmakers.

Glenn Greenwald: Democrats and Their Media Allies Impugned Biden's Cognitive Fitness. Now They Feign Outrage.

https://theintercept.com/2020/03/09/it-was-democrats-and-their-media-allies-who-impugned-bidens-cognitive-fitness-yet-now-feign-outrage/

CNN's Democratic Party consultant Karen Finney condemned the discussion of Biden's cognitive capabilities as "truly a disgusting low blow," demanding that former Democratic presidential candidates Julian Castro and Cory Booker both of whom themselves had commented upon Biden's cognitive failures (on camera!) announce (falsely) that their prior comments about Biden had been distorted. Castro's Communication's Director, Sawyer Hackett, dutifully accused those who were raising these concerns of "push[ing] Trump messaging about Biden"; he also denied that Castro (or Booker) had ever themselves questioned Biden's cognitive competence, warning those who are raising the issue: "don't try to throw Julia'n and Cory in front of you when you do."

Meanwhile, Politico and CNN reporter Ryan Lizza, more devoted to defending Biden than even DNC functionaries, spent all weekend conspiratorially insinuating that journalists who were raising concerns over Biden's cognitive fitness were part of a joint "coordinated" attack from the Sanders and Trump campaigns. Lizza and others like him promoted various outraged articles from Democratic Party-loyal sites expressing all kinds of indignation after four years of open season of musing casually about Trump's dementia that anyone would even dare discuss Biden's cognitive fitness to occupy the most powerful political position in the world. They all insisted that this was some sort of very recent invention on the part of the Sanders and Trump world to stop the Biden juggernaut: a last-minute act of desperation from the Far Right and the Far Left as Biden ascends to his rightful place in the Oval Office.

The problem with all of this? Aside from the fact that Biden's cognitive decline is visible to the naked eye and it is incredibly reckless and repressive to demand that it be supressed, these concerns were first raised not by Trump operatives nor by Sanders supporters, nor were they first raised within the last several weeks. Quite the opposite is true: they were raised repeatedly over the last year principally by Democratic Party officials and their most loyal allies in the media.

One of the earliest mainstream figures to raise serious questions about Biden's cognitive decline was MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell immediately before the June, 2019 presidential debate. The long-time reporter, not exactly known as a Trump sympathizer to put that mildly, went on air amidst a series of rambling, incoherent Biden appearances and said: "the question is, does he still have his stuff? How sharp is he?," prompting Chris Matthews to immediately understand her point and reply: "You know you're answering the question with the question."

We have to stop sweeping these medical concerns about Joe Biden under the rug. If he is handed the nomination by a corrupt DNC, you can bet good money that Donald Trump will not hesitate to hammer them out on a daily basis, as will the GOP Meat Grinder propaganda machines.

Unfortunately, if Sanders gets the nomination the GOP meat grinder will hammer out "Socialist takeover! Radical left!" on a daily basis. So it's six of one and half a dozen of the other. (Of course they might do that if Biden gets the nomination too).

I conclude from my years of study that the Ds and Rs are two sides of a corrupt coin of cognitive decline and imperialistic incline. Moreover, Americans live in a land of make-believe fostering their cognitive decline. The whole country is on a downward slope and taking the rest of the world with it. Don't believe me? Then start studying the land of the real.

That is very true. Or least has been true. I see a world in transition. People are waking up. They are finally seeing that the Ds and Rs have not been representing their interests and that the corporate media lies to them and protects the criminals. The Deep State (DS), that has for so long controlled the politicians and the narrative (MSM), is losing control. The fact that they are trying to pass off dementia Biden as a viable candidate (because they can control him) is evidence that they are running out of ammo.

Very insightful. Keep up the great thinking and writing. I encourae you to expand your comment and make an article, titled something like "The DNC is running out of ammunition and ideas."

Of course it all goes far beyond the DNC but those are the folks currying the favors, turning the knobs, and trying to hang on to their lobbying jobs, in many cases.

I think the real story of the Biden candidacy is the same as Dole against Clinton, or McCain against Obama. The party does not want to waste a viable candidate in a sure loss. They need to put someone on the board. I think their internal polling makes Trump an almost sure thing. The don't want a serious candidate to suffer such a loss. Biden is a good partisan soldier to be sacrificed as cannon fodder.

The democrats have no viable candidate. Even though he has shown considerable cowardice in this election and the last, Bernie would win against pathetic Trump. But he is not capitalist enough for our ruling masters or their toady DNC. The DNC is pushing Sanders under the bus along with Tulsi. If Sanders had any b*lls, he would team up with Tulsi and battle to the top, but he doesn't so he won't.

I cannot help but conclude that Sanders is in this to suck up and then stifle all progressive energy and that has been his intention from the beginning. I am laughing now as I picture progressives vigorously supporting a demented, totally corrupt, anti social security, war monger. What a great soap opera. This is a spectacle, we have absolutely no say in its outcome, but it is fun to watch Pavlov's progressives salivate and jump through hoops for a reactionary zombie.

I agree about Tulsi, she is a rare and wonderful human. I don't really believe that Bernie isn't corrupt. I think he just mouths far left inanities while still being dedicated to his own benefit. But Tulsi burns bright.

I agree, Tulsi is a rare and wonderful human who burns bright. We are back to zero in the fight to vote the bums of both parties out as a desperation to have a voice in our Treasure, Commons and Unalienable Rights. All has been said that needs to be said, the revolution is slipping into the abyss as the populist movements before it ie Occupy Wall Street.

Yes! If Sanders had only deferred to Tulsi after she declared her candidacy and before he declared his, she would have had enough support from his 2016 base to have qualified her for all the debates, which I believe would then have overwhelmed the DNC's efforts to roadblock her. Also, she would have earned our money by taking the fight right to the establishment. She would've won, too. But even if she were to lose, there'd have been at least a certain expiation. Instead we have Sanders actually saying that Biden could beat Trump the other day in the Maddow interview! It has to be the single most moronic, self-defeating utterance by a presidential candidate in US history.

The Deep State normally likes to set up elections so that it is one puppet versus another, such as in 2004 when one Skulls N' Bones member (GWB) went against another Skulls N' Bones member (Kerry). Tim Russert bravely pointed that out - to be followed by his untimely heart attack. They were aiming for the same in 2016 (Hillary/Jeb?) but the uncontrollable Trump spoiled their plan. And now the Deep State is on the ropes and in full panic mode. They know Biden stands no chance against Trump. So I expect some kind of late bait and switch, where he gains the nomination but then drops out due to health reasons so the DNC can hand the reins over to another puppet (such as the very popular Michelle Obama). Grab the popcorn, and enjoy the show!

I find it quite astonishing that the mental state of a prospective presidential candidate for the still militarily most powerful nation on earth should be a taboo topic because of "elder shaming"?

The man is not just going to be a granddaddy sitting on the porch chewing his 'bacco or futzing around with the roses, the damn fool has the keys for the nukes. What are hose idiot dems thinking to ask for a cessation of the discussion? If they think at all.

Sure, the Pres in most circumstance is just a figurehead, but still one with a lot of power when it comes to the final decisions. But my guess is they want some vice pres. on his side who really has the say - a certain Ms. Hilarious comes to mind..

Biden's campaign was on fumes before the SC primaries two weeks ago, with him registering in single digits in the polls. Then all of a sudden Biden sweeps most of the early primaries and is up by double digits nationally against the candidate who was leading for the past year? It's all manufactured bullshit.

Any contract that Bernie might have with the DNC to run on the Democratic ticket has been violated by the DNC's systematic rigging of the primaries. Exit polls don't match the results, overwhelmingly favoring Biden, which is considered the most solid evidence by election experts that fraud has occurred. There has also been mass purging of voter rolls and voter suppression, with closed polling stations and long lines in poor districts where Bernie was leading. The DNC has gone even further by destroying Bernie's momentum in the past few weeks by releasing false polls and creating false narratives in the MSM to smear his reputation.

The problem with Bernie is that he tries to play nice and follow the rules while the cheating DNC robs him again like they did in 2016. Bringing up Biden's dementia is fair game. Trotting out a senile man on a national stage to be publicly humiliated amounts to elder abuse by the DNC and Biden's family. If Bernie doesn't start talking about Biden's dementia and the election rigging soon, he will lose all credibility with his supporters.

The corporate elite now own both parties, the media and our elections. Bernie was our last best chance to stem the elitist coup of our government. It's apparently too late now as Bernie's chances slip away. The US is now a totalitarian oligarchy; not a shot was fired, and most Americans don't know, or care. We apparently get the government we deserve.

"Doesn't Biden's overnight comeback seem weird to you considering he had previously never won a state, he was polling horribly, he struggles to form coherent statements, and his debate performances were objectively abysmal?

The DNC and people who were too lazy to do any research beyond mainstream news are the only ones to blame if Trump wipes the floor with Biden (which, unfortunately, he probably will)...".

'Biden, a consummate Democratic insider, has received the wholehearted backing of the party's establishment and the Democratic-aligned media. Yet his campaign is aware of his serious weaknesses both on his record and as a candidate'. No doubt that a defiant, rowdy, confident Trump would be cursing a "sleepy" Biden 'right off the stage' if the two ever take the 'presidential debate stage together'. Biden, getting himself humiliated and blindsided by Trump on and off the derbate stage would most likely be totally dumbfounded by Trump's relentless attacks, even speechless and at a total loss of his regular 'cliches' and 'canned talking points'. Yes, he's 'elderly', even at seventy seven, and Biden may even have some 'underlying conditions' making him quite vulnerable to a rapidly spreading coronavirus on the campaign trail. Surely after taking office, a President Biden would be showing signs of 'wear and tear' very quickly indeed, especially if he's facing a Republican controlled majority in congress with 'think of me as the Grim Reaper' Majority Leader Senator Mitch McConnell 'giving Biden the cold stare' of everlasting Republican malice (Republicans remain standing, applauding, chanting, 'four more years, four more years' at .30 seconds), all 'gloom and doom' for all Democrats.

Uh, don curry,

you're saying the Dem Party has conceded internally that there's no way they can win the presidency, and that Biden, a sure loser, is to be sacrificed? You are bull-spitting me, right? You're declaring that the Democrats have given up and conceded Trump 4 more years?

Bernie is the only candidate they can nominate if Biden shows truly galloping dementia before the primary season ends. I continue to maintain that Bernie will tear Trump a new bottom hole if he gets the chance to in debates. To quote Jabba the Hut: "that Trump-reality mind trick won't work on (Bernie)." Bernie's not Jeb Bush, Trump can't wave him to silence.

Biden is clearly the surviving Trojan horse among all the DINO candidates... the latecomers who all are apologists for the traitors who engineered the 2008 crash. They are all Wall Street cronies and beneficiaries. Bernie is the sole candidate whose entire career was built on a proper attitude toward the privileged predatory class. For him to address Biden's state of mind instead of the real dangers we face with Trump would be insane.

Biden more electable than Bernie? Don't make me laugh. I'm a Tulsi Gabbard supporter though she's not electable either (sadly). As the son of rabid FDR dems I'll never vote for them again. They're trash. I'll either write in Tulsi or go Green as I did in '12 and '16. Biden is more demented than my father was in his 90's and he died 5 yrs. ago! Bernie is more electable if the DS propaganda would let up (it won't). Maybe I croak from cancer or COVID-19 first. If Biden the nominee I've totally lost hope of this country being other than a totalitarian nightmare!
