The human ritual of looking back and examining the year concluding and the year that lies ahead is a common one indeed. Many individuals engage in the act of assessing the year from January to December and seek to summarize what the year has been and suggest what the coming year will be.

One imagines his or her opinion matters and that perhaps society might remember the past so that the future can be brighter. Summations, in the realm of virtual reality, have a higher currency value than New Year’s resolutions. Summations foment conversation.

To let 2008 exit without considering what it means for the future is simply something I will not do. I do not think you should let it exit without properly considering it either. (That’s right---If you haven’t, get out a pen and pad or your fingers and a keyboard and give your opinion of ’08. It will help you decide what to do in ’09.)

Right now, as Israel bombs Gaza, those with functioning human consciences are torn by the situation. Demonstrations and protests all over the nation are being hold by those who desire to see Israel’s murder of Palestinians in Gaza come to an end.

Those who might converse and devote time to looking back at the political circus that unfolded this year and the various news stories that were significant are preoccupied and with good reason. Many, whom I referring to, have been mobilizing daily since 2002 hoping their actions would lead to the Bush regime’s removal from office.

One might wonder---Is 2008 really going to end on December 31st? That’s an odd question. Allow me to explain.

Americans may have thought that a dark chapter in American history came to an end on November 4th when Barack Obama won. However, throughout Obama’s transition, throughout the economic meltdown, and throughout the final days of the Bush Administration, it has been evident that certain elements are not going to go quietly into the sunset.

Such elements have certain control and power over Obama. The American people should not allow Obama to submit to certain elements that have dominated government and the people of the world since the beginning of the millennium.
