It was several years ago when I posted an article, "Why Have Kids?" (which I'll link to below). I relied heavily on ideas from Les Knight, founder of the Voluntary Movement for Human Extinction, aka VHEMT, and which I came across after stringing together ideas of my own.
I was thus all the more pleased to see one of my new heroes, Sam Mitchell, do an insightful podcast with Les himself the other day. Penetrating and thoughtful questions are asked and answered, and there is an abundance of thought-starters for anyone pondering the above question.
While I could easily expand my original article, given our nudging ever closer to "the war to end all wars," or our sealed fate with human extinction via climate change (barring a miraculous intervention), I imagine any reader here could likewise expand my original article. On top of which this podcast covers the bases well. Kudos to Les for his long term work on this topic, and to Sam for the interview.
