A sincere lifelong activist and good friend has advised that we support
the Cispes petition for Secretary of State John Kerry to: "Take action
today to stop the US government from manipulating development aid to promote the
interests of Big Agra and seed-selling giants like Monsanto at the expense of El
Salvador's farmers and the millions of families they support." Yes, a
noble and moral initiative indeed but -- however sadly -- another that stands
zero chance of succeeding until we more effectively address and succeed in
altering a U.S. government that prioritizes support of Big-Money interests that
sponsor our politicos into "public" office.
Sadly this El Salvador initiative -- yes, noble, moral, maybe
even necessary and all that -- is but a mouse fart in a tsunami, and will have
no more an impact upon Secretary of State(!) Kerry than a hiccup at his cocktail
bar. And whatever has to be fixed elsewhere, such will require the
establishment of decent government in our own USA if the international
initiative is to have any credibility and a chance for correction.
Yes, we've protested for peace and decent
government innumerable times across the past dozen or so years, against war,
torture, and such as bankster abuse, but then we went home, perhaps somewhat
morally satisfied in having registered our concern, but before any correction by
a government that ever more confidently persists in the causes of that concern.
So, despite being the right cause, we've retreated.
And beyond that, we've never really mounted sufficient numbers
for our cause, ignoring the rare voice for A-Million-on-the-Mall,
and Napoleon's advice: "Victory favors the large battalions," we've
mounted insufficient numbers. We need to go LARGE.
We ourselves -- however unfortunately, need to become a
threat, because a threat to their treachery is the
only thing this oligarchy of ours will ever pause to even notice. And you may
rest assured that this "threat" will not come from either side of the
Repukian-Dimocrat duopoly, each side of which is obeisant to Dinero Grande and
Daddy Warbucks.
Maybe, just maybe, there's a chance, within
the prescribed system -- barring another rigging of the quadrennial presidential
contest -- that we could go large with such as Elizabeth Warren, but then she
would need to clearly divorce her intentions from all big-money
persuasions and reject their campaign contributions to
convince us that she -- however "progressive" -- was not to be snared in the
same money-trap as was once-liberal John Kerry, Obama, et al. And from there,
she -- with beggarly campaign funding -- would face the formidable challenge to
convince "the great American electorate" -- the same as chose both Bush and
Obama twice! -- that she is the man (oops, another problem!) for the
job.
I hear Warren's words, and am attracted, as well as to a few
others who bespeak populist integrity. But I'll continue listening and
watching, perhaps even changing by November 2016. But if my choice, our choice, should fail in that election, then it will be high time to consider more
desperate means to achieve decent governance for the American people and more
promising prospects for humanity, yes, and to include those farmers in El
Salvador.
We'll need to muster our fortitude and courage, and
our numbers for that venture, considering that if such as
Jefferson, Franklin and the Adams Brothers were alive today, they would very
likely to have been long silenced behind prison walls, here or
elsewhere!
