Many things are taking place in the world today; things that both imperil, and should be of concern to, every one of the 7.5 billion of us that inhabit this spinning, blue rock. In just the last few weeks a congressional impeachment inquiry was announced pertinent to United States President Donald Trump. In just the past 96 hours, China has paraded (literally) hypersonic ICBMs that can evade U.S. defenses and radar. The United States has abandoned its commitments in Syria, suddenly. The ever-simmering cauldron between the United States and Iran continues to roil to a boil. Much-anticipated nuclear negotiations with North Korea were abruptly ended by the North Koreans, with the North Koreans citing that "the US has not discarded its old stance and attitude".

How telling.

Along with all of the aforementioned there is climate change, student-loan debt (which I am intimately familiar with being the parent of a co-ed at a private university), election "meddling", homelessness, gas prices soaring, an impending recession... I could continue ad nauseam, but I will not. Because, you see, when you look like me you face a more immediate and, indeed, existential threat. A threat and reality that has haunted me, and only those that look like me, from the time we were forced to come to the shores of North America against our will four-hundred years ago. We have not the luxury of thinking lofty thoughts about "the elite", "globalism", "climate change", "children in cages", immigration, impeachment, or any of the other bovine feces that European-Americans and, in fact, every other "American" envelopes themselves in and self-righteously intoxicates themselves with.

As my dad would say "naw, naw".

On September 6, 2018, a 26-year-old Black Person in America was murdered, in cold blood, by an "off-duty" Dallas police officer named Amber Guyger. The murdered Black Person in America was a man named Botham Jean. Any parent of a twenty-something-year-old knows that they are still, very much, kids for the most part. Amber Guyger murdered that young man while he sat in his own apartment; watching television and eating ice-cream. Though Amber Guyger was at the wrong apartment, on the wrong floor, she "thought" she was in her own apartment and saw "the door was slightly ajar as she tried to use her key, which has an electronic chip. When she opened the door, she saw the interior was almost completely dark. She described seeing a large silhouette and, believing there was an intruder in her apartment, drew her firearm. And there, in his own home, Botham Jean's life ended; he was in his "living room". His living room became his death chamber.

Silhouettes in the dark; Gorillas in the mist. https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1991-03-19-mn-487-story.html

Surprisingly, Amber Guyger was charged with murder. Her trial ended last week and a verdict was reached. She was found guilty. At the time the verdict was announced I told my daughter: "Beware, because the b*tch-slap is coming and it will be in the sentencing phase." The b*tch-slap, just as I prophesied, came to pass. For a charge that could have a 99-year sentence, Amber Guyger received a 10-year sentence; she is eligible for parole in 60 months, and she will receive that parole.

Since I expected same I had steeled myself as best as possible and, actually, pretty much kept it together. European-Americans are never going to voluntarily stop their slave patrol, state-sanctioned murder of Black People in America. For one, they have no reason to. People do not change what works for them; they only change what does not, and sometimes not even then. Secondly, these murders have a more ominous purpose and that is to keep Black People in America in their places. To let us know 'Nigga, your life means nothing. I can take your life at the drop of a hat and get away with it' and believe me, I get it. Any individual ignorant to that which I am referring, ought to step out of the darkness and read "The Hidden History of Guns and The Second Amendment" by Thom Hartmann.

I, quite frankly, was rather proud of myself in that I managed the situation as well as I did. The verdict came the middle of the week, and the sentencing at the end of the week. So far, so good.

Then, the weekend came.

Ninety-six hours ago the key-witness in the criminal trial of Amber Guyger was murdered. His name was Joshua Brown. Joshua was a 28-year-old Black Person in America. Joshua's testimony in the criminal trial was pivotal and would be equally so in the upcoming civil trial against the Dallas Police Department and "Officer" Amber Guyger. Within hours of the sentencing of Amber Guyger, this young man was shot to death. A young man who had the intestinal fortitude and heart to speak the truth pertinent to the state-sanctioned murder of his neighbor. One speaks, when seeking truth, from the heart, through their mouths.

Joshua Brown was shot in his mouth, and in his heart. An unequivocal message.

When I became aware of this blatant assassination, I was stunned. To my chagrin, I had not expected it, though I should have. I did not sleep well that night, but that is par for the course with me. I managed through Sunday; I kept repressing my thoughts and feelings. Repression, sometimes, is a survival mechanism, but rarely is it constructive or therapeutic.

Today was the day of reckoning (in more ways than one). I had to see my dentist today, and am neither bragging nor complaining in disclosing that I am the biggest coward when it comes to dentists that the world has ever known. Sadistic bastards are dentists, methinks.

In any event, I pulled into the parking lot of the dentist's office. I parked the vehicle, turned it off and started to shake with a violence I have never experienced. I mean I shook from head to toe. It was one of the weirdest sensations I have ever had, but I knew its origins. The episode was so intense that I had to call my doctor. The origin of my uncontrollable shaking was rage.

Black People in America had better be careful about using terms like "rage". Because, though they have more reason to be outraged than anyone else in the United States, they are supposed to be pacified to the point where they dare not express it, let alone show it. As I have said before, slave mentality is a state of mind just as white supremacy is. If I have a dog on a chain because I do not want her to leave a confined area I can keep her on the physical chain, or I can remove the chain and every time she leaves that area bash her head in. She will soon learn to stay in that confined space. She is still chained up, I simply replaced the physical chain with a mental chain. In fact the mental chain is not only more efficacious, it makes for better optics.

My rage was not just the result of this vile, retarded European-American assassinating this young man-child; this 'blackist' moron that some fool gave the power of determining life and death. Not just a result of the sentence that is lesser than most bad check writers would face. Not just the result of the brother of the victim hugging the murderess in the throes of his slave mentality, and not just the Black Person in America Judge that, ironically, also hugged the murdering pig and gave her, of all things, a bible. It was the whole sordid affair. Black people in America are not respected because we don't demand it; we are too desirous of Massa's pat on the head.

When's the last time you witnessed European-Americans hugging the uniformed, state-sanctioned Black Person in America who killed their loved one in their own living room, or their 12-year-old? Oh yeah, that doesn't happen, does it (that's a statement, not a question).

As I sat in my vehicle shaking uncontrollably, I wanted to cry. It just seemed like crying would have made me feel better, but I could not cry. It was, indeed, the damnedest thing. It was like being spiritually and emotionally constipated.

One thing that we develop as Black People in America is a third eye that lets us see something in certain European-Americans that they think they are hiding. Every Black Person in America that I have talked with has said that Amber Guyger's personage and countenance is that of a racist pig. The hate in her face is almost palpable, and we see it even if they deny it. Probably genetic memory afoot.

Geiger Counters measure radioactivity; radiation damages the cells that make up the human body. Think corpus delicti.

So, while the world wrings its proverbial hands regarding this and that know this: I and 20 million others like me live in a world, a society, where we can be assassinated in our own homes and no one will give a damn. A society where our 12-year-olds are assassinated by pigs in a blanket that get paid for the assassination. A society where European-Americans in uniform come into a classroom and slam our 15-year-old girls down on the ground, straddle our women on the freeway and beat them with gloved fists. All a European-American needs to say is "I thought" or "I feared". Hell no, I do not give a flying fart about your impeachment proceedings, your presidential candidates, your "opioid crisis" or any of that other equine scat you are peddling. Not one of your presidential candidates is addressing this issue; with the exception of Bernie Sanders (though obliquely). Be cognizant that your collective silence is, in fact, complicity.

Joshua Brown was hero of extraordinary courage and valor. In fact, he had articulated to others that he feared for his life; he knew they would kill him. They will, also, defame him and discredit him (European-American playbook 101). In an age where few people have any real integrity or real courage, I salute this young man. Even the greatest warriors suffer from battle fatigue and though I come from a long line of warriors, I am no different. Nonetheless, my weapon of choice is my pen and I will use it to make certain that neither of these young men's lives, nor deaths, will be in vain, that they will be remembered. That, ultimately, justice will be done; for the pen is, truly, mightier than the sword. I suggest one possess both. As long as "America" wants to act like it doesn't understand, I am going to make it a point to help it do so.

As a rule, I do not like it when people compare tragedies. A life lost is a life lost. A grieving family is a grieving family. However, I am a bit more open to discussing why some things are emphasized in the media and "ok" for people to talk about, while other things are not. I am not saying that there are not a long, long list of issues in the world. However, Black people being mistreated in the United States is something that has been a consistent reality for a long time and is an issue that causes more grief, loss of life, and destruction compared to other issues. However, it is one of those things that is not "ok" to talk about... so I am glad you are talking about it.

Ground Hog Day, Ms. Goldberg. Ground Hog Day.

I am most resentful of the Black People in America that are so busy seeking the approval of European-Americans that they perpetuate these atrocities. Like my analogous dog, the chains are just on their minds and spirit as opposed to external chains; but they are slaves nonetheless and the Romans know it. In fact everybody knows it but us.

Thank you for leaving such lucid comments.

I hear a lot of people talking about race and racial issues these days. It is mainly those in power who follow the quiet coyote of your Bobby Hill pic. They don't want any rocking of the boat, ever.

The smearing of Joshua Brown has already begun. The police say his murderer(s) travelled from Alexandria, LA. to buy drugs from him, as if no drugs exist in Louisiana. You can't expect to testify against the police, even a washed up racist has been like Guyger, and then live your life as normal. They will be coming for you one way or another. Thank you for another thought provoking piece.

However I do take a bit of umbrage with your opinion on our "commitments in Syria" but that is not important in the context of your essay. Thanks

I believe I stated "The United States has abandoned its commitments in Syria" which is a fact. I rarely use the words "us" or "our" in reference to the United States because I, personally, do not view myself as an "American". The point was made simply to illustrate the global concerns and chaos that exists. For the record, the U.S, has no business in the Middle East or anywhere else killing babies, which is exactly why they got their asses handed to them and will again. There is no right way to do the wrong thing.

Good article Rohn. Yes, the courtroom scene was disgraceful. It confirmed the craftiness of colonialists sending in the missionaries ahead of the invaders. As for the murder of Joshua Brown, I stopped believing in coincidences a long time ago.

Thank you, Dave. It was one of the most embarassing things I have ever witnessed. I am, quite literally, ashamed. When the Europeans kidnapped the African part of my ancestry, they came with two things (as they always do): a gun in one hand, and a Bible in the other. Take your pick; either way you will be subjugated to my superiority.

As for you having "stopped believing in coincidences a long time ago", I must come clean and admit that I laughed aloud, especially knowing you as I have come to in this brief literary sojourn.

It was a stupidly and tragically careless mistake but it's not as if it were a cold blooded racially motivated murder. There should definitely be consequences. 60 months in prison is not a "slap on the wrist".

I, respectfully, dissent. Maybe when these endless murders start happening to your children, your loved ones, your women at the hands of the state you will have greater credibility. For you to sprout that "60 months in prison is not a slap on the wrist" is a hybridization of ignorance, apathy, cruelty, hubris and blackism that speaks for itself.

Someone, much greater than I, once said: "It is far better to be thought an idiot and remain silent, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt".

Your comment, however obtuse, is appreciated. Please continue to be a fan and validate the realities afoot.

OK. You who claim that Ms. Guyger murdered Botham Jean, please state the motive you ascribe to her. If you read the testimony in the case and don't believe her story, what story do you believe?

She must have had intent, deliberation, and premeditation click here. Some states require malice aforethought. How do you ascribe any of these requirements to Guyger?

I agree that the incident was a terrible heart-wrenching event, and Botham Jean died for no good reason. There was ample reason for anguish. But, I never read or heard any assertion of motive and cannot, from the facts, imagine that there was a credible motive for murder. What am I missing?

The murdering cop was convicted of murder by a jury of 12. I guess that leaves you the odd man out. As the author points out, maybe when your children, wives, husbands, brothers and sisters are murdered by government agents "you will have greater credibility".

A lot of people have been convicted by juries, and too many have later been freed because thy were proved not guilty by evidence.

Your reasoning is flawed. Explain why she's guilty of murder as defined by the law. I don't believe you can do it. Noone who thinks like you should EVER be accepted as a juror in a criminal trial.

I'm no lawyer, l wasn't at the crime scene,at the trial or in the jury room but it does seem as if "manslaughter" would be more appropriate. She should not go unpunished and won't. As we all know many white cops who kill unarmed black men do. She should not have to atone for their sins, only hers.

Execution would show too much mercy. I, though areligious, do tend to believe in "an eye for an eye". Again, and I shall reiterate, when black, uniformed, state sanctioned thugs start killing your white babies, women, brothers and fathers your protestations might carry some credibility. As it is, your white supremacy and, yes, ignorance is front and center, sir.

And your credibility qoutient, on this issue, is zero.
