See Robert L. Moore's essay "Decoding the Diamond Body" in the book THE TRANSCENDENT FUNCTION: INDIVIDUAL AND COLLECTIVE ASPECTS: PROCEEDINGS OF THE TWELFTH INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS FOR ANALYTICAL PSYCHOLOGY, CHICAGO, 1992, edited by Mary Ann Mattoon (1993, pages 233-241).

Incidentally, Sherry Salman's incisive piece about fermenting the psychological process appears in the same volume (pages 143-150).

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, it strikes me that many people in the second half of life in Western culture today, including Sherry Salman, are not in a bad place. If Beatrice Bruteau's analysis is correct, they are undergoing the experience of the new feminine era deep in their psyches. If my analogy with key points in the Christ myth is correct, they may be undergoing a deep psychic crucible that in due time may lead to the rise of higher masculinity in their ego-consciousness, to use Erich Neumann's terminology.
