Shouldn't the men on the faculty in the philosophy department who were NOT involved in the issues mentioned in the report file a lawsuit against the administration for defamation of character?
I know, I know, they probably can't file a lawsuit against the administration for defamation of character. So the mighty administrators will get away with what they are doing.
But the philosophy department is in hot water with the administration because the mighty administrators are abusing their power -- not only by making the report public, but also by trying to make the philosophy department somehow collectively responsible for monitoring certain individual faculty members. But, as noted, such monitoring is an administrative function. In plain English, such monitoring is not the job of the faculty members in the philosophy department.
So what, if anything, can the philosophy department do to get out of hot water with the administration?
