Day872/June 11th/Saturday: In his Weekly Address, the President outlined how the government was partnering with the private sector to ensure workers have the skills they need to be competitive and grow the economy. Transcript Video


Day873/June 12th/Sunday: The President returned from Camp David to the White House.


Day874/June 13th/Monday: The President issued an Executive Order establishing an oversight and accountability board to help federal agencies improve their performance and reduce waste, fraud and abuse across government and directing Cabinet members to report progress cutting waste and delivering results directly to the Vice President. The President traveled to Morrisville, North Carolina, where he then went on to tour Cree, Incorporated (a leading manufacturer of energy efficient LED lighting) manufacturing facilities in Durham, North Carolina. The President addressed a meeting of the President's Council on Jobs and Competitiveness ( transcript video ) and delivered remarks ( transcript ) to Cree workers.

The President traveled to Miami, Florida, where he delivered remarks at a Democratic National Committee (DNC) event at a private residence ( transcript )), at a DNC event at the Adrienne Arsht Center ( transcript ) , and at a DNC event at another private residence ( transcript ).

The President sent these nominations to the United States Senate:

Martin J. Gruenberg , of Maryland, to be Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation for a term of five years bio

The President spent the night in Miami.

The White House brought together a range of stakeholders from throughout the energy sector--including utility executives, state regulators, federal agencies, consumer advocates, technology leaders and entrepreneurs--to discuss, along with Administration officials, the most effective ways of upgrading the United States electric grid. The White House also released a new report, A Policy Framework for a 21 st Century Grid , produced by the Cabinet-level National Science and technology Council.

U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator, Dr. Rajiv Shah, announced over the next 3 years, subject to congressional approval, the United States would devote $450 million to the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI). Source
