The President traveled to Morrisville, North Carolina, where he then went on to tour Cree, Incorporated (a leading manufacturer of energy efficient LED lighting) manufacturing facilities in Durham, North Carolina. The President spent the night in Miami.
The White House brought together a range of stakeholders from throughout the energy sector--including utility executives, state regulators, federal agencies, consumer advocates, technology leaders and entrepreneurs--to discuss, along with Administration officials, the most effective ways of upgrading the United States electric grid. The White House also released a new report, A Policy Framework for a 21 st Century Grid , produced by the Cabinet-level National Science and technology Council.
U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator, Dr. Rajiv Shah, announced over the next 3 years, subject to congressional approval, the United States would devote $450 million to the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI). Source
