Moore and Gillette claim that there are four corresponding archetypes of maturity in the female psyche: Queen, Warrior, Magician, Lover. Drawing on Theodore Millon's work, Moore and Gillette claim that there are two bipolar "shadow" forms of each of the four archetypes of maturity, but they also claim that there is an optimal form of each archetype of maturity as well.


In 2001, Robert Moore published the book THE ARCHETYPE OF INITIATION, which I consider to be his boldest book thus far. According to him, we have an archetype of initiation in the archetypal level of our psyches. The archetype of initiation is involved in all of our involuntary mourning processes, when we mourn somebody's death and when we mourn nondeath losses in our lives. The archetype of initiation is also involved in our major life transitions such as the transition into old age. In addition, the archetype of initiation is involved in mental breakdowns.



(3) Connecting Anthony de Mello's Thought with Robert Moore's Thought



After Tony de Mello died, three inter-related books were published posthumously listing him as the author:


(1) AWARENESS (1990), the transcription of a de Mello spiritual conference;


(2) REDISCOVERING LIFE (2012), the transcription of another (shorter) de Mello conference;

Thomas James Farrell is professor emeritus of writing studies at the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD). He started teaching at UMD in Fall 1987, and he retired from UMD at the end of May 2009. He was born in 1944. He holds three degrees from Saint Louis University (SLU): B.A. in English, 1966; M.A.(T) in English 1968; higher education, 1974. On May 16, 1969, the editors of the SLU student newspaper named him Man of the Year, an honor customarily conferred on an administrator or a faculty member, not on a graduate student -- nor on a woman up to that time.
