Barack Obama wants to be President because he feels that the “American Dream is slipping away”, that we have “to make some big decisions not just for us, but for the next generation, and we keep on putting it off”. He believes he can “build bridges across partisan, racial, and regional lines to get people to work on some commonsense solutions to critical issues”. (Obama website, 8/18/08).
John McCain’s reason:
· “I didn’t decide to run for president to start a national crusade for the political reforms I believed in or to run a campaign as if it were some grand act of patriotism. In truth, I wanted to be president because it had become my ambition to be president.”--John McCain, in his book Worth The Fighting For, p. 373
How noble.
