Failing in Iraq, as he is in the lame-duck portion of his reign, significantly lowers his power over the GOP members of Congress. Sen. Lugar's speech exemplifies that. The vultures are circling and options to deal with W's atrocious administration are being discussed.

W has stuck by Gonzalez but that was mistake. The Gonzalez cover-up inadvertently brought out how portions of the White House were convinced that the NSA eavesdropping on US citizens was a criminal act.

We find out today that the White House, moving toward a constitutional showdown with Congress, asserted executive privilege Thursday and rejected lawmakers' demands for documents that could shed light on the firings of federal prosecutors.

Also today the article "Senators Subpoena The White House" at

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/06/27/AR2007062701325.html

states "A Senate committee investigating the National Security Agency's warrantless wiretapping program issued subpoenas yesterday ordering the White House to turn over documents related to the eavesdropping effort, escalating a legal showdown between Congress and the Bush administration."

All of his policies are failed and the people he depends on are also. W is in a free-fall and sometimes all of the failure wears a person out so that failure becomes an inescapable pattern.

W's boys likely will hunker down even more. For years Gonzales has perpetrated vile crimes and should have resigned, but W wants him and his politicized Justice Department at his beck and call.

The Information Security Oversight Office is tasked to ensure that classified national security information is properly handled so it doesn't fall into the wrong hands. Bush's offices reportedly refused these probes. The way that they bandied around Joseph Wilson's wife' name--a covert agent no less shows that those clowns need help in dealing with classified national security information.

W has his personal attorney, Gonzales, acting as the Attorney General, in charge of the Justice Department which will have a role in deciding what--if any, of this administrations crimes should be investigated.

W has also stacked the US Supreme Court in case he needs to go there for an appeal. He has committed crimes and knows and it is hoping to stonewall every valid request for information, because the information he has will incriminate him.

So, yeah, W is willing to compromise on "Mission Accomplished". He has to be able to declare the Iraq occupation as a success or is legacy will be ruined. He's willing to spend the rest of his administration making half-hearted attempts of compromise as long as he can perform his major task-that of evading the truth.
