Of interest: Congressman Dennis Kucinich is the only Presidential contender to have voted against the proposed Yucca Mountain Repository, a U.S. Dept. of Energy terminal storage facility for spent nuclear reactor fuel and other radioactive waste. Did General Electric silence Kucinich to make sure this issue didn’t come up? Edwards voted twice to authorize Yucca Mountain as a nuclear repository while in the Senate. (As with his original support of the Iraq war, he has changed his tune since.) According to the Center for Responsive Politics, Obama has received significant funds from Exelon (EXC - Cramer's Take - Stockpickr). Exelon is based in Obama's home state and has pushed hard for new subsidies for nuclear power plants. GE may have good reason to cuddle up with Edwards and Obama.
