Progressives care, give money, and go to demonstrations, about the planet. There is greater planetary-survival consciousness in the activism of progressives than that of mere liberals.
I don't know if you have ever heard the old political maxim:
liberals (and by that, on this right-shifted political spectrum of 2016, I include progressives, even though many are no more left that the average late-1960s liberal) are just radicals without the balls to act on their convictions.
A progressive is not necessarily distinguished from a Democrat. Oh, from the moderate conservative/centrist financial and volunteer-work contributors to the business of the Democratic Party, who see no problem with the democracy-destructive PACs as long as their candidate wins, who comprise the vast majority of those who have voted for Clinton-- well, no, a progressive does not line up in that column.
Clear enough? Here it is in one paragraph, David (who was a submariner and loved his job):
Reigning in of capitalism and greedy capitalist rogues. A cessation of wartime policies, that besides endangering the survival of the planet, stack debt on top of debt while parts of the country like the infrastructure are crumbling. Racial, gender, and (in most cases they think so) sexual-orientation equality. Stop tearing the earth. Renewable energy generation must be implemented on a Marshall-Plan scale (larger, the continent is bigger than Europe) in the United States. Fossil and nuclear fuel energy generation must be supplanted and cease as quickly as possible.

Bernie practically echoed what I just wrote for you 5 minutes or so into his speech in Santa Monica. He is telling you what distinguishes progressives from liberals. Progressives of today-- "We will break up the major banks on Wall Street! And we will join with all the other industrialized nations and have health care as a right." Listen to him. That's what progressive is, caring about the future of America and not just about the maintenance of business as usual.
Progressives are a MOVEMENT. Liberals (and centrists) only comprise a PARTY. Some factions of conservatives appear to be conflicting, but although the total of them is less, traditionally (since the Southern Strategy) they have been more focused as a Party, even with the insurgence of the Tea Partiers.
Clinton has won California by about 55-43%. We must now presume that, lacking an indictment, she will be nominated, and will defeat Donald Trump by some clear but non-mandate margin.
And tens of millions of Americans will have been forced to elect a warmongering neocon-lite of a banker's-friend candidate in order to avoid an even more profoundly unqualified candidate who is a bigot, a capitalist predator, a man who readily did business with members of the Genovese and Gambino families, an insulter of women and even the handicapped, whom-- worst of all to consider-- tens of millions of other Americans will have voted for!
Cry, the beloved country...
