Why, those whacky birthers alone are proof enough some are ready to believe anything you or anyone is willing to write against President Obama. Don't you fret your next words of fear won't find a home in their hearts. Remember the videos of kids praying to a cardboard cut out of Bush? These same folks are alive and well in the Republican Party and the tea party movement. They eagerly await their next dose of fear and have already found their next golden calf in Sarah Palin. Add a couple well chosen Bible verses to an article on Obama being the anti-Christ and I can assure you, sir, you will provide the fear fix they so badly need, the truth they so desire and earn a portion of their devotion not reserved for Saint Sarah. Explain this unholy situation well enough and you, too, can be a cardboard cut out, not as big as Palin's you understand, but at least a nice life sized piece of cardboard. How many of those who are willing to "walk on broken glass" for Sarah Palin, Defender of Children Against Death Panels and Patron Saint of the Tea Party, will believe your Hitler story now that Saint Sarah gave you her official blessing? All of them. How many will believe you, newly anointed by Saint Sarah, if you write an article stating the President of the United States is the anti-Christ? All of them.

Those who are willing to believe Sarah Palin's suggestion that she is the present day embodiment of the biblical figure Esther and those who believe her to be another Edith, will believe anything the woman says and who she says to believe:

Yes, Thomas, write and they will believe, all of them other than the more educated base of the GOP who are not above pushing what is known to be vicious bull hockey to those so willing to believe outright ignorant assertions against the President of the United States. They believe for various reasons whatever fear you are willing to feed them, including, but not limited to, their distrust of government, distrust of a black man as President and distrust of our Founding Fathers' wise decision to keep our nation from becoming a theocracy through the willingness of politicians to use religious zealots in order to gain power for themselves.
We, as your faithful readers, are to gather from your column that President Obama is like Hitler because he draws crowds much like John F. Kennedy did during his own presidency and simply because Obama worked with BP to expedite help to Gulf, help needed by those experiencing unemployment loss and worse. It must be a horribly Hitlerish thing to help unemployed Americans, as the Republican Party has now denied four times the unemployment extension needed so badly by so many of us. How many times does therooster have to crow before we realize it's time to wake up?
At what point does all this baseless fear mongering become mentally unhealthy for ourselves and our country? At what point do we become what we fear? When will sane people point their own fingers and say back to the fear mongers "U lie"? At what point will you become embarrassed by your own words, Mr. Sowell?
You have the verbal ability and the national media vehicle necessary to explain to all Patriots here and abroad, how the President of the United States is not only Hitler reborn, but Satan incarnate. Tell them the Devil himself resides deep in his blackened soul and they will bless your own. It's in your power to do so, the same as it's in your power to be an ethical, responsible journalist and citizen. I just hope you have the moral clarity and intestinal fortitude necessary to do what is right.
For God's sake, Thomas, at least tell them the truth not bedtime horror stories. There are no death panels. President Obama is not Hitler nor a Kenyan. The man is not the anti-Christ, The One, a Socialist, a Communist or a Marxist. There is no 'I hate whitey' YouTube video exposing Michelle Obama and neither is her husband a racist. He is not the boogeyman. This man is the President of the United States and deserves our respect as such, no matter how much we may disagree with his policies.
You know all of this but, like so many, chose to ignore reality for your own purposes. Your swing to the right has come to an arc in the pendulum. You can chose to swing back into centered journalistic integrity if you wish to remain credible. I hope you do. Or, you can chose to throw off any remaining pretense of ethics and continue your swing towards the far right fringe by feeding the inflammatory, unreasonable fear that our President of the United States is Hitler, or worse, to those "useful idiots" who so willingly swallow it whole, hook, line and sinker.
