"... in fiscal year 2014, Immigration and Customs Enforcement deported just under 178,000 illegal immigrants convicted of a crime, about 56 percent of all deportations." Almost all the crimes were lack of papers, the rest mostly drug possession.
All this data is critical for it proves how outrageous the Big Lie on which Trump's power was based. The most law-abiding (excluding paper crimes) population in the US are the Mexicans without papers (mwops). The safest big city has the most. If you want to be safe from murder, live in a Mexican neighborhood.
The purpose of the Big Lie is to tell a falsehood so huge, so unbelievable, that those without critical thinking or fact-checking skills accept and promote it, creating a climate of hate against our most non-violent and defenseless population. This is a crime worthy of Hitler and portends the rise of fascism, which seeks out the most harmless population to scapegoat.
So here is the lesson Trump learned in reading the speeches of Hitler, his bedside reading.
1. " Make the lie big, make it simple, make it 'unbelievable,' keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it." Trump repeated his Big Lie at every rally to uproar and cheers. The media reported the cheers, not the lies.
2." in the big lie there is always a certain force of credibility; because the broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods. It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and waver and will continue to think that there may be some other explanation."
Or as he said: " I could commit murder in broad daylight and they would still vote for me." Blind faith, the core of fascist attraction, the nexus of evil and gullibility, which Trump has learned well.
3. "The final key to the way I promote is bravado. I play to people's fantasies. People may not always think big themselves, but they can still get very excited by those who do. That's why a little hyperbole never hurts. People want to believe something is the biggest and the greatest and the most spectacular.
I call it truthful hyperbole. It's an innocent form of exaggeration -- and a very effective form of promotion." This is how Trump, when he was only selling booze and fake University classes, defended lying. Now he has embarked on the Big Lie, and as in the 3d Reich, it is working to create the 4th Reich.
Those now defending his lies should realize we have been down this road many times, and the result of the Big Lie is always mass murder (Hitler, Mussolini, Bush II). It's a harsh truth, but these are harsh time as fascism, disguised as Americanism, becomes normalized.
