What happened when Saddam's Republican Guard troops committed genocide against the Kurds? Bush did nothing. The reason was that his longstanding ally of Saudi Arabia requested that he let them die. After all, they are Sunnis and the Kurds are Shiites, conflicting Islamic beliefs.
So now we push on to the present. Given the past as prologue, how can we believe anything other than that the forces of the New World Order, with George Bush the Elder's Carlyle Group in the forefront, have decided that the time is ripe to overthrow Gadhafi on behalf of big oil?
Robert Scheer has written an article this week posing the proposition of why an invasion of Libya is justified on humanitarian grounds while even the thought of invading Saudi Arabia is not even a discussion point. Scheer's point is rhetorical and poses a crucial issue that those following the international political scene and seeking reason and justice understand.
As for the Saudis, let us remember that following the 9/11 attacks the son of ardently bullish pro-Saudi GHW Bush provided immediate safe passage for the family members of Osama bin Laden living in the United States out of the country. As Michael Moore stated, can one have conceived of providing immediate safe passage to the family of Timothy McVeigh out of America following the Oklahoma City bombing tragedy?
