And, since Dr. Weingartner did talk about up-and-coming therapies such as biofeedback, Lynette is now utilizing the technologies that he was a participant in researching in the 70's.
Like Herb was passionate about studying adult mental illness, Lynette Louise is passionate about treatment for Autism in children, and on how to incorporate neurofeedback, combined with play, as the main therapy approach for the autistic child. I just bet that love and enthusiasm for her work factors in there too and make it easier for her to reach children others can't.
Lynette holds two board certifications in Neurofeedback and is working on her PhD in Clinical Psychophysiology. Most notably though, she is a mom extraordinaire! Without question her greatest pride is having raised eight children, (six adopted, five disabled, four on the autism spectrum). At present, only one of her sons retains his label and remains dependent.
Again, I recall Dr. Weingarner smacking himself on the forehead, and with eyes ablaze in wonder, he would say with a passionate New York accent, "this stuff is fascinating." Those words come through Lynette's work, though he never met her nor she him.
Corroborating Herb's work regarding the relationship of affect arousal in learning, Lynette's one-woman musical comedy show CRAZY TO SANE teaches with laughter, candor and toe tapping tunes. Her show--with some of the songs on CD-- is a collage of her life as the daughter of abuse, the mother of autism, and a student turned teacher of mental health. With artistic splendor she weaves the lessons of a lifetime, comedy, and brain science into this entertaining and emotional show. We loved the videos accompanying her songs, Unfinished and Brainiac. Herb, with his glossy, electrified scientific eyes, would have been well pleased.
In chaos theory it is said that everything affects everything else. Lynette's work does exactly that. She affects everything with her love. Lynette is a powerhouse, alongside her daughter, Tsara. With these two women in the Light House, I have some hope for the human race and this planet. It is by people like Lynette and Tsara that we will be released from the prison of corporate rule. We will finally perhaps meet that day in which we can sing alongside Martin Luther King, "Free at last, free at last, thank God almighty we are free at last."
Perhaps then bottom up rule will be the Way of the Day?
