When the film was released in 1975 by Stanley Kubrick, I simply could not feature a Kubrick film starring Ryan O'Neil. Subsequently, I learned that Kubrick had obtained two or three old movie cameras from Warner Brothers specifically to gather enough light for the interior shots in the movie, and I started (but regrettably did not finish) the famous Henry Fielding novel Barry Lyndon, and so I appreciated the movie the first time I saw it sometime in the 1990's.
Presently, Barry Lyndon is considered one of Kubrick's greatest movies. And if you create or love color photography, or are an admirer of the great American director Stanley Kubrick, or greatly appreciate middle 18th century British art, do not miss Barry Lyndon. It was also available from Netflix on 05.04.2011.
