Can he win the labor population in the rust-belt states of Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania? What is his message? Will he bring industry back? How? Will he create new and better jobs? Does he support labor in trade policy as well as the right to organize? These are questions he has not yet answered. I have little doubt that he has answers but the real question is: Can he persuade the working people?
If Mayor Pete has a problem with minority voters, he would likely lose the presidential election. If he has a problem swaying the working folks or raising the passion of the progressive base, it could be an electoral landslide.
The time for the nation's first openly gay president is coming but it may not have arrived. It's a shame there isn't a US Senate opening in Indiana until 2022.
