Life has become about instant gratification and expectation with very little appreciation for the little things people say or the services they offer. Before long, civility will become something future generations will find in their parents' attics. They'll try to cash in on it on "The Antique Roads Show" because they won't recognize it for what it is or have any clue what to do with it.
We seem to hoard really kind words like rollover minutes and on those rare occasions we are actually the recipients of them, we barely know how to receive or acknowledge them because they take us by surprise. We fall over them by practically negating them, canceling out each other and ourselves. We perpetuate our civil disability.
So today, do yourself and the world a little favor by seeing if you can say or do something nice and see if the world responds in kind (irony noted). You may find yourself being Person A for a change and hearing Person B respond with a heartfelt, "Thank you".
Please be a good teacher and respond by saying, "You're welcome".
Would that be a problem?
