However, the outrage expressed by McCain and Flake at the time of the Senate investigation in 2015, over the Defense Department's heavy investment in domestic propaganda is completely disingenuous. Of course, they knew because the Pentagon openly came to Congress to gain funding for this purpose in 2009 when John Murtha first objected.
It must be noted that gaining figures for the exact amount (if any) the military spends on domestic propaganda after 2009 is difficult because the very secretive Obama administration challenged that the Pentagon's Information Operations should remain secret. As a result, propaganda expenditures were shifted to dark money well hidden within the Pentagon's larger budget.
Given this, today, it is impossible to determine what amount, if any, is spent on domestic propaganda.
Altogether, the Pentagon spent 4.7 billion internationally on propaganda efforts in 2009, the last year for which complete reports are available. It's safe to assume that at least a billion is spent each year buying your support of war.
However, following eight years of Obama's expanded Imperialism and propaganda perpetual war is simply a way of life for most Americans.
The American people have been duped into supporting endless, senseless war. Their undying affection for military and troops isn't organic, isn't sincere and isn't heartfelt. It was bought and paid for by the very military industrial complex that profits from war.
