The President declared a major disaster existed in the State of Nebraska and ordered Federal aid to supplement State and local recovery efforts in the area struck by severe storms, flooding, and tornadoes during the period of June 5-26, 2009.

Vice President Joe Biden addressed the National Urban League Conference in Chicago, Illinois. C-Span Video

In the evening, the President and Vice-President Joe Biden joined the 22 cabinet members at the Blair House in Washington, D.C. for a "retreat to mark the first six months of the Obama Administration. Examined will be what has been acomplished and the agenda ahead. The retreat was scheduled to span the weekend.

The war in Iraq became an American-only effort after Britain and Australia, the last of the "Coalition of the Willing , pulled out. Departure of Australian troops and the expiration of the mandate for the remaining British contingent came after Iraq's parliament adjourned without agreeing to allow the troops to stay to protect southern oil ports and train Iraqi troops.
