The time is here to put the issue to put in clear terms, where we stand as a civilization in terms of size of population versus available resources. Further, despite whatever the truth actually is, we all know that alternative, plentiful, and most importantly environmentally safe fuels must be found and finally, real work on producing them must replace the empty rhetoric of today.
In any case, the United Stated Government is in serious trouble. It will be up to the American people, if this happens, to hold onto their sense of right and wrong, and sense of civility.
It will be up to us, should such a calamity occur to heave our "ship of state," our nation, back on a steady course towards democracy whilst righting the terrible wrongs of the republicans/corporations and their religious fundamentalist associates.
