We won the unnecessary, lied-into war on Iraq, and her people the moment we captured Saddam Hussein. It's long past time to call it victory morphed into occupation, and cut any future loses of life, limb and money.
You give us no hope of a bright future, but only the knowledge of to expect more of the same.
You told us that we were fools to buy into the prospect of hope and better days, and we didn't purchase what you were selling.
Your hope is to win us over with lack of hope and your fearsome broken record rendition of fear, fear and more fear if we dast to not let you do it your way.
It's not like Hillary is a downer candidate in the spirit of McC. She does try to instill hope in us and tell us she'll bring about change for the good. She just doesn't have Obama's knack of making us believe that she really will do it.
Hope and a new spirit of change; change for the better; change no matter how difficult to bring about has brought the rebirth of one particular common bond between my eldest daughter and me.
She was the one who got me interested in politics, although at the time she nor I ever expected it to turn into semi-political junky-ism. When George Bush was selected president, it was as if her political off-switch snapped shut.
It wouldn't have been as bad if it were only the dimmer switch lowering a bit, but she felt totally shut off, shut out and left in complete darkness.
She turned to sports radio for relief and left me standing alone in the kitchen discussing politics with the pots and pans. There was no reasoning with her; there was no talking to her about anything political or world "eventical."
As Barack Obama has stirred the country, so has he awakened my daughter's political interest. I doubt she'll ever be the junkie of yore, but it's a start and it's even nicer to have her back, politically speaking.
Thank you, Barack. You've given us hope again. You've given us hope that we'll be participants again. The lights have turned on again. And, for as long as it lasts, you've given me back my daughter to discuss politics with again.
You've brought us hope that our beloved Constitution will be reconstituted again.
Now bring on the fireworks!
