Compromising a covert CIA operative and the entire intelligence network of that operative and all who worked with that agent for the sake of impugning the credibility of that agent's husband, a respected diplomat-immoral and likely a felony (Bush and Cheney)

Condoning the torture as interrogation techniques of countless detainees who were and are being held, probably illegally, by the U. S.-a violation of international law (Bush and Cheney)

Operating secret prisons in eastern Europe and Asia in violation of international law (Bush and Cheney)

Failure to live up to his oath of office, i.e., "to faithfully execute the laws of the United States," by writing signing statements that specifically exempt the executive from complying with any laws it disagrees with (Bush)

Failure to live up to his oath of office to "preserve and protect" the Constitution of the United States by approving domestic spying on Americans by the National Security Agency without first obtaining a warrant to do so from the judiciary (Bush)

Showing contempt for congress by wrongly claiming executive privilege to prevent his aides from testifying about the wholesale firing of U. S. attorneys in a political purge (Bush)

These are eight counts of impeachable offenses. There are probably more and any competent lawyer ought to be able to whip them into legalese so that even the most dense member of congress would be satisfied.

The point here is that congress has plenty of reasons to simply start the proceedings of impeachment without further preliminaries. Bush, Cheney and their henchmen have utterly flouted the Constitution and thumbed their noses at the other branches of government-they are outlaws. There is no other word that accurately describes this cabal of cronies.

So far, congress has let these outlaws get away with countless instances of illegal acts and serious abuses of authority.

Congress is not required to have a judicial imprimatur on any charges for impeachment. The members alone are the sole decision-makers as to what is or is not an impeachable offense.

Get on with it.
