As it relates to apologizing for any comments made of Bush, I wrote "In this country some elected officials have been openly critical of Bush only to retract their statements and apologize" We all remember when Senator Harry Reid apologized for saying of Bush, “I think the guy is a loser” during a civics discussion with a group of high school students.  Reid later on apologized for that comment to non-other than Karl Rove since Bush was traveling in Europe at that time.” In apologizing to Rove it only showed Reid’s self-humiliation.

To close this out, I wanted to expand upon Daniel Geery’s observations and how many within our government tend to enable President Bush.  Yes, it does take an adult like Cong. Pete Stark to remind us all how bad behavior should be addressed.  In the West Wing episode “Gone Quiet”, President Bartlett’s campaign manager Bruno Gianelli states in this dialogue between he and Sam Seaborne, “we cowered in the corner and said "Please, don't hurt me." Any apology should be thought of as cowering in that corner saying don’t hurt me.

Gianelli said that in response to this declaration “Cause I am tired of working for candidates who make me think I should be embarrassed to believe what I believe, Sam. I'm tired of getting them elected.” Let me add this, I am tired of supporting elected officials who act as enablers and apologists.  All who feel that Stark should apologize should grow up.

We must remember that literally thousands upon thousands of Iraqi children will never grow up.  Those within the military who have been killed will never get to see their children grow up.  They need adults speaking out for them.
