Ratified on the 15th of December 1791.

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

Free the press and other news media. Freedom to write and petition our government and our representative both about what we want and what we don’t want, personally and through the press and via the airwaves.

Note the FCC has allowed the amalgamation of separate independent forms of news sources on paper and the electromagnetic media of radio and television. This eases the process for a few large corporations to own all the news media of all types in many geographical areas. Now all the news is controlled, filtered, abridged, distorted, removed and substituted at the whims of a few biased individuals operating those corporations, media businesses and holding companies.

For journalist news sources to be protected we must define fair open rules that can remain consistent over a broad range of circumstances. Their may be necessary exception to save lives, protect children or for true instances of national security. Overall, we must do everything possible to protect the press and reasonably limit the degree of punishment provided for these circumstances. This is a real hot bed issue that needs more discussion and resolution.

Since religion falls within the 1st Amendment I mention it here. Lately some churches are being threatened for their free speech about politics. The government is threatening to take away their tax exemption status as a church, but please note that it is not the Republican biased churches that suffer these indignities, it’s only the Democratic or other independent thinking ones that are being threatened and investigated. This is an inappropriate misapplication of American justice and equality! It would appear that some churches and their membership are being impugned, not only inequitably, but also in violation of the First Amendment. The 1st Amendment says, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion.” During America’s Revolutionary War for Independence from England it was the churches that passed along the message. So in that I say leave the churches alone in this matter just as it is specified in the 1st Amendment of our Bill of Rights. According to the 1st Amendment, the government cannot limit churches in their expression of ideas nor make laws or tax laws about them. Certainly churches have no right to limit citizens of this country even though some churches are cult like, if they go too far on limiting their parishioners then they might be way out of line; this is America, don’t forget it.

If anything should be illegal it’s the current corporate control of the various forms of the news media, it is corruption at the highest level. Freedom of speech, the press and religion must be protected from government control and regulation with very few merits to even slightly limit those citizen rights.

‘A free press, being essential to a free people, shall not be abridged.’

FOUR: The Continuation of a Free Society

No key individuals should be sectored out and abused for their political beliefs when they are not taking away the rights of others; certainly, we are not talking about special rights for the elite at all but for the general population. Be very suspicious of privileged rights of a few, granted there may some exceptions but they must remain a few for everyone else to be able to exist. Any special rights can get out of hand and create an imperial few that do not belong in America.

The status of the freedoms of universities and the students and of government and corporate workers to have free speech, to be patriotic Americans, cannot be allowed to be muffled by the government nor by the administrations of organizations, universities and/or governments. Essentially, everyones’ access to their freedom of speech and expression of ideas must not be limited as condition of the government, businesses, employers, religions, or anyone else in order for the American citizens to maintain a free country. It is not at all for the consorted few to be able to obstruct our freedoms in this country.

When individuals within the government, especially, as well as with corporations or businesses, misuse their high position to dissuade the freedoms of others, they should be tried and removed from their positions of authority and sued for the harm they and their entities of power have caused. Government workers such as U.S. Attorneys, should be safe and freer within their positions and any removal should be subject to review and oversight by Congress.

Control of others, limitations and suppression are in direct violation to our rights and it is time that it must be stopped for good. There are only a few limited reasons why in some instances freedoms are somewhat limited. Exceptional rights should be only exceptional with in quantity and quality and be very limited in both scope and time limit. Usually our freedom expands as long as we do not impinge upon the same rights as others. Special rights and privileges may in some sort need to exist for sometime, but those special rights or privileges must indeed be limited themselves in order to not compromise the general freedoms at large. Those who want to control everything and every one should be limited to controlling only themselves, just like most people do; either that or go find another world to try to live on. We don’t need you, go away!

FIVE: Patriots should be Treated Like Patriots

The right to free expression, as with the other freedoms expressed in the 1st Amendment, shall not be abridged! While this is applied to laws from our Congress; that does not provide the Executive or Judicial branches any special rights either. People who are advocating their freedom of expression must not be compromised by our government as they are currently doing to citizens of this country for doing their patriotic duty. The road back to democracy is not an easy one, but one certainly worth pursuing before there is no freedom left to do any of it.

How to do this is a reasonable question with some answers out there, some activities are already in motion. Providing that we either still have elections and also honest elections at that, we need to carefully examine and promote new candidates to replace the old lethargic ones that cannot either see or hear us any longer and shorten the number of times they can run for the same type of office.
