What a fantastical dream all that was?
The Democrats never intended to impeach or end the war.
The war serves the Democrats’ need, which is to win the White House.
The reality is it’s too hard for the Democrats to fight to end this war. Even if they wanted to end the war, they couldn't put in the time or effort to do it. The same goes for torture.
Pelosi and the Democrats can barely give us a straight answer on what to do with Guantanamo. They support torture when Republican presidential candidate John McCain, a war veteran who was tortured, doesn't. Torture would be banned if Republican John McCain could get his party to side with him. How sad is that? How sad is it that Democrats are cowards and hide behind the fact that they could not speak out against classified information on interrogation techniques?
The Democrats have such a poor record on the war and torture it’s going to be quite entertaining to see them pushed up against the wall by Republicans during the general election as they make claims that they are anti-war and pro-human rights. It will be even more fun to hear about all the special interest and lobbyist money they aren’t taking.
We all know the Republicans will make the Democrats (primarily the Democratic presidential nominee) waffle in the general election. He or she will look spineless, hapless, and gutless as Democrats always do. And if Republicans can find a way to piece together a video of the candidate on a sailboat shifting in the wind, we’ll be seeing flip-flops being thrust into the air once again.
I can just imagine Rush Limbaugh giving away flip-flops to his listeners. He’ll advertise them as flip-flops that can be worn on either foot. You can switch them around as much as Democrats switch their stances on the issues.
Look, I was for the Democrats before I was against them. Now I cannot even make myself pity them. Even worse, I am having a tough time pitying or comforting the Americans who are upset with Democrats.
