Now, I'm not saying I agree with his logic. But it was very enlightening to get all this straight from the mouth of a white Republican male. Its encouraging to witness, first hand, that there are Republicans that are dissatisfied with their party, in general, and the Bush Administration in particular. It gives me a ray of hope that things could change. But its still disturbing to me to see the white, conservative, male hatred of Hillary. I have my issues with Hillary, as I know many Progressives do, but I do not hate her. In fact, I think she is very courageous, intelligent, hard-working and dedicated. My issue is more with the "political machine" that has helped get her to this point ... a very much, pro-Israeli machine that will prevent any true solution to the Middle East crisis. And god knows we need a major "paradigm shift" in our approach there.
Anyway, the arena was "rockin" like we were at a VCU basketball game. But the energy from the crowd that arose when Obama took the podium was unmistakably different. And it became immediately clear to me ... at that moment ... that Obama was going to take Virginia in a big way. I'm not saying that I am fully on the Obama bandwagon. Just that there is a phenomenon there that is really worth sitting up and taking note of.
