7. Secure the growth of state pension funds by paying relatively high interest, which in turn stimulates the economy.
8. Improve the balance sheets of small businesses by enabling them to buy their premises.
9. Create more employment and reduce the economic drain of student loans by making college free in Florida.
10. Stabilize housing prices at fair levels through 2%/15-year mortgages (new and refinance) while creating massive employment in construction and related fields.
Unless a consortium of commercial banks volunteers, and I would be happy to help that happen, these programs can best be implemented by a publicly-owned bank. And that publicly-owned bank is no more "socialist" than public parks, public schools, public water, or public roads.
A publicly-owned SuperBank, owned by and serving the people of Florida, is not a threat to commercial banks, it is a blessing.
