"You're kidding!" said Alice.
"Never," said the Rabbit. "I wish I were. Better get ready to register for the draft."
"Oh, they'll never draft me," Alice curtseyed. "I'm a girl." Fist in the air. "Fight the power."
"Yes, my dear woman warrior," nodded the Hatter, "the U.S. Senate recently voted 85-13 to support the 2017 National Defense Authorization Act, which contains a provision that women ages 18 to 26 have to sign up for Selective Service."
Alice pouted, "Well, heckypoo. I don't want that much equality."
"Then you're lucky it hasn't passed the House. Yet." The Rabbit scratched his chin. "Write your congressman. Meanwhile, I'll be stocking a few months' supply of food in my rabbit hole."
Alice frowned, "So what's the endgame here?"
"Good choice of words, dear," said the Hatter.
"Chess?" the Rabbit suggested.
"Risk, 'La Conquête du Monde'," said the Hatter. "Or at least the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and Asia. And Hillary is looking forward to a seat at the table."
"Any more seats in your fallout shelter, Hatter?" asked the Rabbit.
"For you, my dear Rabbit, always."
