Further notes from Ronald: Our language is Luganda but we come from the Bantu background. We are located in Kasenge village in Wakiso District just 20km away from Uganda's capitol, Kampala.
Dream Nursery and Primary School was begun nine years ago by me and Mpagi Edward Edmary, a former death row inmate, who spent 18 years row for a murder that never happened. You can find his articles in international news when you Google his name. His children never went to school because he was in prison. He and I came from the same community where AIDS affected ALL families, including my own. We are working to help orphans of AIDS, as well as children of prisoners. When a father is thrown in jail nobody takes care of the children, like Edward's children missed a lot of school.
Edward and I have visited the United Nations headquarters in NY campaigning for abolition of the death penalty among member states.
Many families have lost a loved one due to AIDS. We have been working with our friend Kathy Chsim who lives in New York for the last 9 years, building classrooms for the children, all a work in progress, as most of our children are orphans of AIDS, children of prisoners , and victims of severe poverty and abuse.
Our website is www.okuloota, meaning "dream" in our local language, Luganda. We have friends who are currently sponsoring children at our school and we still need more sponsors in all areas. English is our second language in Uganda.
It is extremely hard to get funding from the Melinda Gates foundation because there lots of applications annually and they cannot fund all of them, except when someone has some strong contacts there, which we do not.
