Guantanamo and other "black" sites remain open. Torture, extraordinary rendition, denial of habeas corpus, indefinite detention, wireless wiretapping remain in place and in some cases drone attacks and missile strikes have increased over what Bush authorized. Now the assassination of American citizens has been "legalized" and authorized without due process and the NDAA (National Defense Authorization Act) Obama signed on New Years Eve gives the military the right to hold any American citizen indefinitely if the president so authorizes it.
Meanwhile the financial behemoths, those "masters of the universe" have been rescued and the banks too big to fail haven't been broken up, all but assuring a new financial crisis and another economic meltdown in the not too distant future.
Then the previous administrations' perpetrators' who initiated illegal war in Afghanistan, lied about WMD and invaded Iraq, authorized torture, have never been held to account and are given a pass, primarily because the same essential practices have continued unabated under Obama.
The rich continue not paying their fair share, income inequality keeps growing, health care remains in the hands of the private health care industry monopoly and the electoral process has been usurped and remains in the firm control of the rich and special interests making the Congress handmaidens and sycophants beholden to those interests.
The 99% are still getting stiffed at the hands of the 1% as clearly articulated by the "occupy" movement, but as yet their correct perceptions haven't translated into bringing about the real changes necessary to reclaim our country.
So the view from here is we'll have to endure the clamoring accusations and vitriol over the next seven months between the two main party candidates and their Super Pac funded campaigns and in the end the one perceived by the majority of voters as the lesser of evils will be elected in November.
Unless a miracle happens and Rocky Anderson emerges at the top, expect business as usual, more war, expansion of the national security state and the 1% in firm control.
