After all campaign rhetoric is nothing more than that. All candidates are notorious for appealing to various interest groups to gain their favor and once elected much of what was said is abandoned as he' she sees fit.
Recall during the 2008 campaign Obama's slogan was "Change you can believe in". Can anyone honestly say he brought change you can still believe in? Hell in 2012 he abandoned the slogan as it would be a laughing stock. It was from the beginning nothing more than campaign rhetoric.
The sooner Democrats reflect on that the sooner they'll come to their senses and hold the "Donald" for the specific actions he takes as president.
