When we wake up from the World War II delusion that war has a salubrious, cleansing effect on both victors and defeated, that a war builds a peaceful happy nation, that war is a noble, constructive endeavor, we will be far less likely to start one. If we want to be moral about war, that is moral number one. Don't fight it.
But when we must, we should be under no delusions. World War II variety or otherwise.
