I can't help thinking that the suicides of soldiers returning home had much to do with not being able to live with themselves because of what they witnessed and/or what they were required to do.
"The latest Pentagon statistics on suicides in all service branches, combined with data compiled by the San Antonio Express-News, brought the total to 4,839 for the years 2003 through 2015. In the same period, 4,496 Americans were lost serving in Iraq. More suicides than combat deaths.
The last anti-war protest I joined was near the front gate to Mc Dill AFB. Maybe there were 40 of us. Some driving by honked, some waved, some gave us the finger.
The White House Comment line is 202-456-1111. I keep my Senators' and Representative's in my phone.
My real wish would be massive VietNam War type marches in the streets.
P.S. My last leg from Georgia to NC was taken on the Amtrak train. A poor comparison to the exquisitely clean Bullet Trains in China...but the two classes of wine helped.
