There is no doubt that life's truest essence is Love.   We have been given this awesome gift--the power of Love gives us the power to connect with everything and everyone; it gives us the wisdom to understand what is needed and helps create beauty all around us.   It is the key to creating Heaven on Earth.   That is our test and our purpose--to allow Love, and therefore Wisdom, to grow and flower within us.   And out of that change in perspective, we just might create the world of our dreams.   A world where--ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE!

So this month, sit back, take a breath and set sail for the inner realms.

  Pisces New Moon, February 28-March 1, 2014

The 2014 New Moon in Pisces occurs on Friday, February 28th through Saturday, March 1st at 11:59pm PST/ 2:59am EST/ 7:59am GMT.   There are 4 planets changing direction around this New Moon, creating tidal energy shifts, so don't take this usually dreamy, gentle and inspired New Moon for granted--the energies might get wild.

Mercury goes direct hours before this New Moon.   What have you learned about your hopes and dreams?   How clear sighted are you about your purpose? What do you envision for the future?   The Sabian symbol for Mercury direct at 19* Aquarius is: Amidst smoke and drizzle, jubilant fire fighters dig the final trench around a mountaintop blaze.

We have a mix of elements--fire and water--that usually are at cross purposes.   But there's a Rumi quote I love: " Love is the water of life.   And a lover is a soul of fire!   The universe turns differently when fire loves water.   Where there is too much passion (fire) we need the waters of love to turn it into compassion.   This image speaks of controlling our passions and transmuting one element into another, like alchemy.   What is your vision?   Is it burning in you like the mountaintop?     Perhaps you need to add love to it!

Mercury and Saturn challenge each other and us to acknowledge the truth of the heart and let our rational mind help us find the way to meet our tests with courage, integrity and hope.

The Sabian symbol for the Sun and Moon at 11* Pisces is: Pilgrims traveling a narrow path, seeking illumination. This image speaks to the power of spiritual ideals, of a hoped-for mystical union.   It speaks of a pure and loving heart, of holding to our spiritual principles.   It opens our ability to see into others' hearts and souls--giving us opportunities for spiritual unions with others.   Remember, Aphrodite was born out of the waters and so when you plant seeds this month, plant the seeds of love and compassion and wisdom.   We will need them this year.

This New Moon is joined in Pisces by Neptune, Chiron and Juno, the archetypal energies of the Creative Imagination, of the wounded healer and of balanced partnerships.   Our old beliefs about the power of the imagination (Neptune), of our wounded psyches (Chiron) and of our relationships (Juno) are dissolving back into the collective unconscious so that they might be renewed.    What will it be like when we engage the Imagination to discover Wisdom, face our inner wounds to discover meaning and purpose, and come to understand that our partnerships can encompass the perfect balance of energies to create a new wholeness?   Imagine.

Jupiter in Cancer , which is slowing down to turn direct on March 6th, is exactly trine (120*) this New Moon.   This angle generates a positive flow of energies, easy to incorporate and use.     Jupiter in Cancer deepens our sense of our emotional body, our Soul; this expanded sense of the truth of our deepest needs gives us a stronger sense of the Self, of our archetypal wholeness.   When a planet slows down, its energy is more concentrated and forceful.

Jupiter's energy is large anyway, so its impact might be more noticeable in your life right now.   Jupiter can bring you good fortune as well as make something you want to ignore more obvious.   Pay attention to your needs right now.   Accept them, accept yourself!   Cancer is the sign of the Mother, the watery sign that understands what is needed to make life blossom for you.   Whether it's a new relationship to your inner life, to food, to your family or your country, the need to find your emotional security is going to be up for all of us, especially in the United States, which is just beginning to undergo the first ever Pluto opposition to its Cancer Sun.   As a country, the US needs to go through the death of an old myth about itself with the hoped-for birth of a new and more truthful national identity.   By this April, we'll know what we have to face.

The Sabian symbol for the degree where Jupiter turns direct at 11* Cancer is:   A clown caricatures all kinds of human expressions. A clown exaggerates human characteristics so we can look at ourselves and laugh at our own foibles and follies. Laughter and humor help us to look at life more objectively, to look behind the illusions of our personas to the very real emotions and needs behind our masks.   All those politically incorrect emotions that we want to cover over and ignore.   What if we just felt them and asked why we felt that way?   Once we work it through, we can usually laugh at ourselves and see the fears that create our illusions.   Once we understand our own motivations and emotions, we are better able to understand other people.   You can find your emotional security by being truthful with yourself.

Saturn is slowing down in Scorpio, ready to begin its yearly retrograde on March 2nd until July 20th.   At 24* Scorpio, Saturn is entering the nurturing phase of its journey through Scorpio, but it needs to go back to find a little more compassion and understanding for those foibles our clown is satirizing. The Sabian symbol for 24* Scorpio speaks to this need to incorporate our inspirations and values into everyday life:   After hearing an inspired individual deliver his "sermon on the mount', crowds are returning home.   Saturn can give us the disciple and structure to bring our new vision of life into reality.   Saturn occupies the 3rd water sign of this New Moon chart, creating the likelihood that we can successfully integrate our emotional body needs (Cancer) and the needs of the Collective Unconscious (Pisces) into our daily routines and relationships (Scorpio).

Just as Mercury goes direct, followed by the Pisces New Moon, Mars goes retrograde on March 1st.   Talk about shifting energies!   We've been learning how to integrate our personal energies with the cosmic energies of change since Venus went retrograde on Winter Solstice 2013.   When Venus (how we love) went direct at the end of January, Mercury (how we think) went retrograde a few days later.   Now our desire nature--Mars--has to turn within to understand what's worth desiring and even fighting for. Mars goes retrograde about every 26 months.   When it does, it stays in a sign for about 6 months rather than its usual 6 weeks.   So we'll have Mars in Libra until late July.   This will change the energy of Mars, because in Libra, we have to play fair and consider others.   When it comes to desires, like the image of the forest fire, we can't let our passions get out of control.   We have to learn compassion--to share our passions consciously.   What better way than through relationships (Libra) and diplomacy.

The Sabian symbol for Mars turning retrograde at 28* Libra is: A man becoming aware of spiritual forces surrounding and assisting him.   This image speaks to our unique ability to become conscious of our choices and be willing to sacrifice for the future good of the community at large.   We need to remember that self-sacrifice for the common good is part of our makeup.   So open to the spiritual forces surrounding and assisting us in these sometimes dangerous and transformative times!
