So this Full Moon will be extra intense because it affects both the north and south nodes of Saturn and Pluto. Both Saturn and Pluto deal with karma. Saturn and Pluto together can be extremely challenging--when the planet of material security/reality and the planet of evolution and death & rebirth get together, it can shake the fabric of our outer security while it tests our integrity and strength of character. Our culture is undergoing these kinds of tests every day recently, and each of us will also be tested, because a culture is made up of the people who comprise it. What we do with our own lives will determine how our society comes through these evolutionary times.
With a south node in Capricorn, the approach to life is rooted in a strong reliance on the order provided by society and authority figures. At its best, people understand their share of responsibility in making society work. At its worst, culturally instilled guilt, repression, and fear become the motivating forces on a collective level. The north node in Cancer reflects a need to embrace a gentler and more emotional approach to life, an approach that nurtures our emotional bodies. This is a call for the return of the Goddess following millennia of patriarchal domination. We are in the process of opening ourselves to Feminine Wisdom.
Both Capricorn and Cancer deal with our society's foundational principles--Capricorn as the father figure, Cancer as the mother. We are in the process of creating a new society. Will we allow corporations and machines to take over our lives or will we create a creative blend of freedom and community that allows the human Spirit to blossom? Only time will tell if we have it in us to evolve to higher levels of consciousness.
So with this Capricorn Full Moon affected by the south nodes of Pluto and Saturn, we will feel the repression and restrictions of patriarchy. With Pluto within shouting distance of this Full Moon, we'll realize that change is possible. With the Sun in Cancer on both Saturn and Pluto's north nodes, we'll be challenged to figure out what it is we really want.
One of the reasons why the old guard is fighting progress is that most people do not have any idea of what the world will look like if we actually change our society. That's where we come in. We have to be visionaries and let others know what a possible future might look like. While the future can only be a mystery, we can still imagine what it might look like. The more idealistic, the better!
In 2019, both Pluto and Saturn will come together at 20* Capricorn, right on their south nodes; the old patriarchy will die. But that's when we'll know if our courage and integrity will create a new society or if we'll be taken over completely by the corporate machine. So we have a few more years to do our best to create a better future.
If you have any planets around 18-22* Cancer/Capricorn, hold onto your hats. The winds of change will be blowing strongly for you.
Capricorn Full Moon 2014
The
Capricorn Full Moon occurs on Saturday July 12, 2014 at 4:25am PDT/ 7:25am EDT/
11:25am GMT.
This Full Moon becomes part of the Cardinal Grand Cross that's been affecting us all year. Pluto stands with the Moon in Capricorn opposite the Sun and Jupiter in Cancer. Crossing that opposition at right angles is Uranus in Aries opposite Mars, Ceres, Vesta and the Moon's north node in Libra. Mars is calling in the Divine Feminine, the Moon is breaking free of patriarchal constraints and Jupiter adds its spiritual support to the nurturing Sun in Cancer.
This is definitely the time to connect with the Divine Feminine. My book, Wisdom's Daughters: How Women Can Change the World speaks to this return. And when you look below, you'll see the theme repeated when Saturn stops its retrograde motion on July 20.
The Sabian symbol for the Sun at 21* Cancer is: A famous singer is proving her virtuosity during an operatic performance. Opera is both story and music--and it explores our passions and relationships. This image reminds us that we have to make an emotional commitment to life. It's not enough to just get by. Life is meant to be lived deeply and passionately. The opera singer is your beautiful soul, longing for a fulfilled life. If you're not feeling the passion, perhaps you aren't living your real life.
The Sabian symbol for the Moon at 21* Capricorn is: A relay race. This race is a team effort. It's an image of people committing themselves to a cause and working together to achieve it. This group work calls for a dynamic interchange between the people in the group and with other groups.
It also brings to mind Mercury, that troublesome devil, who is the fleet-footed messenger of the gods. Mercury is beginning to pick up speed again now that it is moving in direction motion. By Saturday evening, Mercury leaves Gemini again and moves back into Cancer.
